Unbelievable mind-blowing image generation - Midjourney has revolutionized the whole creative process for me. Coming from other tools, the AI-generated art is stunning and high quality even with simple prompts, but it's more than that because of the training and customization. There's levels and modes for quality/stylizing/quality, and you can learn by doing, and by seeing what others have created. The discord is one of the best communities I've seen for learning/collaboration. The docs are great too - there's more parameters, but it's a balanced view of how a tool should work - enough style and aesthetics/quality with power to change all the parameters and control. V5 is less opinionated than other versions, but the prompts can be used more like a chat, and less keyword packing/syntax. I use v3, v4, and v5 for different purposes so that's an option too. One of the biggest updates is to the hands 🖐️ for all the AI haters (they are funny tbh) but the hands are getting better and more realistic. It keeps getting better the more I use it and discover. Just scratching the surface for the last few days, it gets better all the time, big shout-out to the team that is working on this. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Midjourney is a fascinating and fun implementation of a generative predictive text AI model. It is at times mind-blowing to witness the output of images from a given prompt. I cannot fathom how someone could look at these images and claim that they are not "original" or do not qualify as artwork. It is easy to go deep down the rabbit hole as ideas are translated to prompts and perfected for one's desired result, as well as the intrigue and amusement of the variations--minimal to comical to borderline insane--amongst the four images generated for a given prompt. Constructive criticism follows but do not let the length of the complaints deter from my assertion that this is an enthralling platform which is both exciting for the possibilities and productivity it promises to produce. However, another facet of this phenomena is how starkly concerning on a societal level midjourney is due to its undeniable ability, as of today, to outperform and underprice most human creatives on the core functions of their entire job function--it is not even a competition. I.e., the image of a logo which is currently my avatar on Product Hunt. Something like that would easily be $100-200+ dollars plus a few days' time to obtain from a human. It only took a few sentences and clicks over maybe 15 minutes on midjourney for me to obtain a catalog of business card/storefront worthy logos, in a variety of visually appealing colorful, polished, and entirely personalized high-resolution files. And due to the relative simplicity of such an image it only takes a fraction the time most prompts require (compared to something like "an impressionist painting by Pablo Picasso showing the lost city of Atlantis being destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius"). I would be foolish to ever entertain paying a human for this sort of work; that is, if I want to embrace the spirit of capitalism to any extent. Still, there is ample room for improvement in the future in terms of an evolving platform which in many instances is unable to properly adhere to / comply with prompts which do not strike the user as complex or beyond the system's capabilities. There is in that sense an "art" to making the art but also a limit on the creative control which can be exerted. Other times, it is quite bizarre to find oneself unable to achieve certain qualities in the images prompted. The content filters are also frustrating especially when it comes to what gets flagged as inappropriate in the use of source images input via weblink. I understand the reasons that theoretically support this overly wide content filtering but I do not see it getting more accurate as it is claimed will happen over time by the devs. The pricing is tolerable but it is likely a bit too expensive for most casual users. My biggest gripe is that one has to go through Discord to use the service. This brings unavoidable privacy issues and also causes hiccups due to the inability to implement independent redundancies to mitigate discord's own limitations--when you are generating a high volume of images along with others in the public channels, you are probably going to lose track of your images and just scrolling/searching to get back to them can cause hangs and crashes. I recommend implementing the bot in one's own private server on Discord. All in all, I'd give it a 4.6/5 as of July 2023.

TL;DR Pro: 1) Good image generation (whenever it's not being throttled) Cons: 1) No customer service 2) Keep on taking your money after cancellation 3) Censorship and bullying of customers 4) No free trial 5) Expensive It seems that over here people are only praising the image quality that it produces. Although that is fair, it is a biased perspective They claim on their discord server that (and I quote) "your imagination is the only limit" when the reality is that they implement an AI moderation system that often censors most images related to the human form. Just to keep in mind if "freedom of expression" is your thing. NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT Customers are treated as "beta-tester" and that same excuse it's peddled whenever anyone is critical of their approach to moderation / Censorship and since their main "Customer support" is a discord channel, critical voices are quickly stifled thanks to bans and silence from a subsection of the moderation team that sees David Holtz as some sort of demigod that can't do no wrong. Last, but not least SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE CANCELLED THEIR SUBSCRIPTION ONLY FOR KEEP ON BEING CHARGED. HENCE, BUYER BEWARE. With no more free trial, the only way that one can try their services is by paying.

Simply the best. Better than all the rest. :) The new prompting, character reference, style parameters, and upscaling/vary by region make this one of the most powerful AI image generators, and my favorite to use. If you have access to alpha, you can use the website version and it's so clean - allows upscaling and downloading multiple images in a "session". Can't wait to see what the next few months hold.

It's definitely the easiest-to-use tool with the prettiest results, although there are some frustrations because of gaps. I use it in my social media workflows and a new rewarding non-AI-fiction-writing hobby. And I hope that one day MJ becomes a tool that can let you keep consistent characters across multiple image generations, without having to resort to other tools (SD's inpainting, Photoshop, etc.)

I have been using Midjourney for a few weeks to create visual content for marketing purposes. I am very satisfied with the content created at medium-small resolutions, which is useful for the web. However, when it comes to enlarging the results to be able to rely on larger resolutions, it doesn't work so well. The interface and available options could be improved, but for being only at the beginning, I still consider myself satisfied.
