Midlife Engineering is a sound therapy tool for the creatively restless. Craft ambient soundscapes to ease stress, sharpen focus, and spark creativity. It’s like therapy without the talking — boosting mood, brainpower, and well-being, no motorcycle required.

Thanks for the positive feedback — had never thought about using it whilst reading books. I could see it working though.

Very nice! I enjoyed listening to it and really like the writing and the walkthrough. Sometimes tutorials feel like such a nag but this was more of an experience and very fitting of the feel of the page. Awesome stuff.

@theron_rogers1 Thanks. Glad you like the walkthrough. Had a lot of positive messages on this part. So much we kept it in for v2.0.

Midlife Engineering
Hey Hunters 👋
A week since launch and it’s been a bit of a ride. I didn’t expect to get a top 5 position nor all of the nice messages here, in email, and across social media.
For this, I’m super grateful and would like to say thanks for your upvotes — but do keep spreading the positive message because mental health matters.
I’ve also had a fair few people in the podcast and creative space ask if they can use music or screenshots from Midlife Engineering as background sounds or on their showcase sites.
Here’s the deal — use whatever you like, just don’t try to make a quick buck off it. Midlife Engineering isn’t some cash grab; it’s a glorified coping mechanism wrapped in an ambient soundscape.
All I ask in return is that you help spread a positive message on mental health and throw a link up on your socials. If you fancy a chat about it on your podcast, I’m game — always happy to ramble about the joys of midlife crises and the importance of keeping your head screwed on.
This whole thing is a not-for-profit project, built for those who need a moment of calm — whether that’s for anxiety, stress, grief, depression, or just the crushing weight of existence. It’s also for neurodiverse minds who need a different kind of focus, deep workers who require sonic wallpaper, and anyone practising meditation, mindfulness, or simply trying to survive Monday mornings.
Sharing is caring, because sometimes, the only thing holding it all together is duct tape and a good soundtrack.
Such a cool idea. Really nice design and sounds. So easy to just click a few buttons and leave on in the background while I do something else. Thanks for sharing this!

Very fun to play, I love the craft put into this, and mixing the sounds is quite satisfying 10/10

@andressul Amazing — this is what it's all about. Makes me happy to hear. I use it as part of my morning wake up slowly ritual and in moments of hyper focus working.
I have tried and owned numerous apps with similar sounds, and I can confidently say that the sounds you've chosen are well recorded and produced. I really enjoy using the app. Once I found a soundscape that I liked, it was quite relaxing.
It took some time to find a combination that I liked, especially since some of the buttons aren't labeled. I understand that labeling might detract from the aesthetic, but having some presets would be helpful to get started quickly.
Some features or buttons, like record, play, and stop, didn't seem to function properly. This issue might be because I'm using the Arc browser. After enjoying the synth for a while, I found myself wishing it was available as a desktop app as well as on iOS. Hopefully, that is in your plans. Great job!

@fnelson Thanks for your awesome feedback. Glad you can find your vibe too - taking the 'time out' to find that vibe is also good for us - to experience fun childlike play. The buttons that don't work are for future features yet to be implemented such as recording your own soundscape creations and downloading for offline listening :)
@mrblackstudio I hadn't thought about it that way. That makes sense. :) Will this be available as an app? It's something I would pay for. One other piece of feedback: being able to click and drag the knobs up and down to adjust the volumes individually would enhance my listening experience. Some sounds overpower others.
