This is Flo, founder of Midstay.
I wanted to share a bit of my story and how Midstay came to life…
I was 23 in 2020, and just after organizing a music festival of over 20k attendees, I jumped in a plane for a last mission as a UX/UI designer in San Francisco. I didn't know it would be my last one as I used to help startups since many years on a temporary basis to help them bridge the product gap.
But in February 2020, when I came back to my home town in Belgium, it was freaking cold... So I told myself, why not take my laptop/clients with me and work from a tropical location for a few months before the summer? I took a ticket and headed straight to Bali, but "unfortunately" got stuck a month after because of the pandemic... I can't complain, really it was great.
I kept working for my client during the first 10 months and surfed every morning from 6-8 am. That is where, one day when there were no waves, we were a few in the ocean and, I bumped into Magnus, a Software Engineer guy from Norway. We quickly bonded and shared some of our pains as remote workers. He became my co-founder a few months later.
We realized that the feeling of solitude was intensifying among the Gen-Z and millennial populations as a result of the lack of a genuine office camaraderie in remote work settings. Nonetheless, this issue does not convince them to revert to traditional office work, as they are keen on preserving the perks that come with the attractive remote working lifestyle.
From these insights, we started iterating on Midstay, a platform made to feel connected locally and thrive remotely. You can be a home-based or digital nomad remote worker, we wanted to create a platform that would help re-create a colleague environment, anywhere at any time.
We've been hammering away at this Social Angle for a few months, putting in the elbow grease to whip up something special. We’re all about helping professionals like you (re)make real connections, way beyond just staring at screens.
I strongly believe that the future is remote, BUT physical interactions are essential for maintaining a healthy work-life balance and continuing to develop professionally... We are dedicated to offering this essential tool that's currently missing, and hopefully close the gap.

Since remote work became widespread in recent years, I think such networks like Midstay might offer lots of comfort for interaction between colleagues beyond the office walls. Congrats on the launch!

Already been involve myself into this community since a month ago and it is really fun being in Midstay by reason of i can openly discuss with many people from different background industries as well as country or states then exhange ideas through dm etc also beside this also lowkey helps my social life😅
