@ninjudd Hi Justin, we have indeed. Its something that is on the list, however as the IN FLIGHT aspect is only a small portion of the lifespan of a flight, we decided to concentrate on what it does well, and increasing the initial user base as phase 1, then phase 2 we will look at MPC and other bits we have on our todo list
Hey guys! Big thanks to Violeta for hunting us.
As a frequent flyer in both business and personal travel, I often wonder who my fellow passengers are, where they are off too, what they will do at their destinations. So we created MileHi, to allow socialising and networking during otherwise large periods of downtime while in the air, and in the run up to a flight.
Add your flights. See who’s on your plane and other similar flights to your destination. Browse their profiles and see who you’d like to socialise with.
Would love to get Product Hunts feedback :)
@oassoulin Thanks! We have had a few requests for this today on here and twitter. Its definitely on the list, however will have to increase its priority based on the requests. We have seen it on FireChat and Jott, and think it works really well, however as the lifespan of a flight chat for us is potentially months, the flight itself is a very small part of that. Watch this space :)
This reminds me of Airtroductions from almost 10 years ago http://lifehacker.com/154642/air... (which was acquired by a private company in 2007) founded by @petershankman
Im curious to understand what's different from a market perspective now vs then.
@anujadhiya Hi Anuj, great question! I was not aware of Airtroductions, so I will go away and do some research. Site looks to be no longer available now however.
Regarding the now vs then, I think now we are right on the brink of connectivity and hardware making this main stream.
Something like this requires mobile devices and an app to be successful, as laptops on a flight aren't everyones cup of tea, where as most people will get their phone out at least a couple of times on a flight. Also 10 years ago, I think 'chatting' was deemed a bit nerdy, however now the uptake in social network and IM apps is huge, due to coverage in the main stream press, popular culture, etc.
Also with in flight wifi becoming more main stream everyday, I think we will see cheap or free connectivity on most flights in the very near future, which is really going to open us up to a whole new audience.
integration with TripIt or Appitheair will be also very helpful for exporting my flights and not adding them manually. You might be also interested to check startuptravels - they have similar idea, but for meeting in town
@milesb Hi Miles, great name yourself ;)
And yes, we have had a lot of love towards the name, people seem to like the double entendre, plus nice and snappy / memorable too!
If you could provide any feedback on the app, we would be all ears
