Misu automatically tracks your mood via facial micro-expressions intermittently throughout the day. Misü helps you learn how apps and websites impact your mental health. Misü is like a Fitbit for your mood, that works on your Mac today.
Hey Product Hunt, I made Misü after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and struggling with anxiety, depression and mania. Psych ward visits suck.
My psychiatrist and therapists recommended I track my mood. Seeing how our fitness and many other parts of our lives were being automatically tracked, I dreamed one day there’d be automatic mood trackers. 5 years later, we have Misü.
Having tracked my mood daily for +3 years, it has played a big role in helping me emotionally flourish. I plan to keep up the habit and excited to be building Misü for others who want to invest in their mental health.
Happy to answer questions about the technology, privacy, our mission (where Misü is headed), and my personal journey with my mental health.
As a society we need to build much more awareness around our mental health. I think these kind of products will be absolutely critical for this.
Also, very sleek design, and I appreciate that the team cares about clarifying how the data is being used.
Already thinking of how we could apply the insights to detect that we’re actually happier after Zooming with friends vs. watching Netflix!
Very excited to see where Misü goes from there, and congrats to @applecider_ the origin story is very inspiring :)
I shared that with the developer as well. I love the idea. But you give access to all your data including photo snapshots. It is hosted on S3 and it is not clear how data is processed and who has access. I think this will be a tough one to solve for this product.
Hey @niklausgerber - no photo data is every stored or sent to a server, we do the processing client. Data that is sent to our server and DB is the emotion reads (happiness, anxiety, saddness, each 0-100), and your computer / app usage. I understand that it is a lot and may not be for you - and curious what would build more trust in Misü?

I've used Misu for about 6 months.
I use my computer a lot. Between coding, video calls (especially now that I'm WFH), reading articles, and youtube rabbit holes, I might find myself on the computer 8-10 hours a day on average.
Having an external assistant that not only shows me my usage, but how these platforms are affecting me has been hugely beneficial to my mental wellbeing and has directly changed my behavior.
Most importantly, Misu helps me the most when I'm at my worst. If I'm in a low mood, it's harder for me to realize that myself. But seeing my wellness number lower than average for hours or days in a row is a really strong indicator for me.
Privacy is a pretty important concern for me (for example, I don't allow any Facebook-published apps onto my phone, use a variety of blockers on desktop). Initially I was skeptical, but the Misu team has been very responsive about my concerns and answered all my questions along the way.
All in all, I would recommend! Very excited to see how this product develops in the coming years.
Really excited to try out Misü! I've been noticing massive swings in my moods, despite doing yoga and meditation. I would love to see what triggers throughout the day impact my mental health negatively. Thanks to the Misü team for creating mindful tech that helps instead of hurts. Bravo!
@megan_parker1 thanks Megan - would love your feedback on how Misü could be better at helping you be more mindful of your mood swings and what impacts them. Welcome!

In order to get it tracked by you, it will ask for so many permissions that I'm not comfortable sharing them with you.
Also, I found a spelling mistake of "Business" in "Download Misü Today" section of your landing page, you may correct it.
