Open-hardware e-ink developer kit and monitor with 75 Hz refresh and sub-100 ms latency, works with 6–13.3″ monochrome and color e-ink panels. Build fast, low-latency e-paper projects on Linux, macOS, and Windows.

After years of spending 12+ hours a day in front of LCD screens, I wanted something that worked with me, not against me: no flicker, no blue light, no eye strain. E-ink was the answer, but existing tools were closed and slow.
So we built the Modos Developer Kit: an open-hardware FPGA-based controller that drives e-ink panels at up to 75 Hz with sub-100 ms latency. It’s designed for developers, makers, and anyone who wants to create their own high-performance e-ink projects.
We launched on Crowd Supply and would love for you to check it out, join our Discord, check-out our GitHub and share what you’d build with it.
What would you make with fast, open-hardware e-ink?
