Hello, everyone! I work as a software engineer in the property and casualty insurance industry, which is heavily rule-driven. Decisions about whether to issue a policy or not, or to refer a quote for further review, as well as decisions about price, are often pre-determined based on information given by an agent. These rules are defined and managed by experts (in my case, underwriters) who know them backwards and frontwards, but they are not given the ability to implement the rules themselves. Instead, they have to rely on a developer like me to translate their rules into code (without making mistakes!). These rules can also frequently change in response to market conditions, but a request to change a rule must wait for a developer to be available to make the update, resulting in lost business opportunities in the interim. My goal in creating My Business Rules is to provide an avenue for an organization to let business experts manage these rules themselves. Developers can take the existing model information they are already using in their internal apps, provide it to My Business Rules, and then allow business users to define behaviors for that model themselves. It takes less than 5 minutes to set up the initial integration. This is a pretty bare-bones MVP, but I'm hoping to find partner companies that want to use this and can help me define the product based on their particular needs. I hope you find this useful!
