Traditional banking is broken.
They just don't seem to keep up with the times. Any of this sound familiar?
- Paper form required at original branch to change an address
- Faxing like, anything
- Blocked card due to traveling too much, featuring annoying anti-fraud calls
- A stack of paperwork, plus sacrificial lamb required to open account
Needless to say, traditional banks can do so much better.
When I opened an account with N26 some time ago, I was happily surprised that it only took a few minutes to join. All I needed was my phone and passport. “This is the future of banking” I thought.
Neobanks were created from the ground up to be completely mobile first. For these banks branches are a thing of the past.
I started noticing more of these new-style banks popping up, so I figured it would be cool to discover them all in one place.
Check out the filters, where you can see if any of them have an actual banking licence, require a monthly fee or support Bitcoin.
Let me know if I missed any banks from this list. Feedback and questions are more than welcome!
@leandrobthomas Useful collection, thanks for sharing! I recently signed up for Tide and so far I've been very impressed, I've not used it properly yet, but setup was surprisingly easy and fun. Definitely up for setting up a personal bank account on one of these one day.
@liammckay Thanks Liam! I also signed up to Tide. Just waiting for them to support multiple account holders. I'll be adding reviews in the future, so hopefully people can make informed choices.
