It is sad that the best virtual realm we can come up is one where we watch TV, but in a nicer room.

@ggnall I greatly enjoyed the original UI in VR for YouTube on Google Cardboard, which was a multiscreen monitor projected on the inside of a sphere. It used voice-driven search, which would display the 'now-playing' video on a larger central display screen, with all the other related search results around it. It really was an effective way to consume video content, I thought, and I was really bummed when they got rid of it: https://plus.google.com/+JasonSa.... However, to Google's credit, they DID use a stereoscopic view within the native YouTube app, which basically retrofitted their entire video catalog to be VR-viewable. Which is REALLY smart.
