I built Not Awkward because for years, I struggled with social anxiety at work. It often felt like I had two jobs: the one I was hired to do, and the one where I tried to hide how nervous and awkward I felt in everyday interactions. Saying “good morning,” joining conversations, or speaking up in meetings — things that seemed effortless for others were exhausting for me. What makes Not Awkward unique is that it’s not about “fixing” people or turning everyone into extroverts. Instead, it’s a practical, compassionate tool designed specifically for the real-life challenges of workplace social anxiety: small talk prompts, recovery tips for those cringe moments, and little confidence-building practices you can actually use during the workday. What I’m most proud of is that this came from a very personal place. I know how isolating and draining it can feel when you think you’re the only one struggling. Building this has been both a way to help myself and (hopefully) a way to make things lighter for others in the same boat. If even one person feels less alone or less anxious because of Not Awkward, I’ll count it as a win.
