Hey Product Hunt! π
I'm the maker of NotebookLM Hub. Here's the backstory.
I've been a heavy NotebookLM user since early 2025. I use it daily for research β analyzing papers, comparing documents, generating source-grounded summaries. It's genuinely the best AI tool for working *with* your own materials rather than relying on general training data.
But the more I used it, the more the workflow gaps became obvious:
Every interesting article required a multi-step manual import process. My sources had no metadata β three weeks later I'd be staring at a document thinking "where did I even find this?" And switching between NotebookLM, Obsidian (my knowledge vault), and Notion (my project hub) meant constant copy-paste with zero connection between them.
I looked at existing extensions. There are some good ones β but they each solve one narrow problem. A web clipper that only clips. A YouTube importer that only imports YouTube. A sidebar that only adds a sidebar. Installing four extensions that don't share state or compose together felt wrong.
So I built NotebookLM Hub to be the integration layer that connects everything.
The current version (v0.1) focuses on the import pipeline β getting content into NotebookLM quickly with proper metadata and source tracking. It's intentionally focused: I wanted to ship something that does a few things really well rather than a lot of things poorly.
What I'm most excited about building next is the bidirectional sync with Obsidian and Notion. The idea is simple: use each tool for what it's best at, and let NotebookLM Hub handle the connections. NotebookLM for AI analysis, Obsidian for permanent storage, Notion for collaboration β all linked.
A few things I want to be transparent about:
- Privacy: The extension needs access to notebooklm.google.com to function, but no data goes through any external server. Everything stays between your browser and Google's servers.
- No official API: NotebookLM doesn't have a public API yet, so we use content script injection (standard Chrome extension technique). We've built an abstraction layer so when Google opens the API, we'll switch to it without breaking anything.
- Free: The core features will always be free. We may add premium features later (advanced sync, team features), but the import and management tools are free forever.
I'd love to hear:
- What's your NotebookLM workflow like?
- What integrations would make NotebookLM more useful for you?
- Any feedback on the extension after trying it?
I'll be here all day responding to comments. Thank you for checking it out! π
