Hi everyone! 👋 I’m Karl, the solo developer behind Nxtstep Fitness.
I built this app because I wanted a simple gym tracker that focused on what actually matters, training consistently, tracking personal bests, and seeing real progress. Many fitness apps felt overly complicated or locked their best features behind subscriptions, so I decided to create a free alternative.
Nxtstep Fitness includes three training modes (Bulk, Cut, and Strength), workout tracking, personal best tracking, XP and ranks to keep you motivated, and progress monitoring to help you stay consistent.
This is just the beginning. I’m already working on new features and would genuinely love to hear your feedback and ideas to help shape the future of the app.
Thanks for checking it out, and I hope Nxtstep Fitness helps you take your next step in the gym! 💪

honestly the gamified xp and rank system sounds like a fun way to stay motivated, but it would be cool if you could sync it with a friend or small group so you can basically compete on weekly volume or prs, makes it way easier to actually show up on days you dont feel like it

Thanks! That’s actually one of the later steps in the roadmap as I make the app more connected. I’ve already added several social features to help friends connect and share their progress, and I’d love to expand that into friendly competition. Weekly volume, PR leaderboards, and group challenges are definitely ideas I’m interested in because, like you said, they can make it much easier to stay motivated and keep showing up. Appreciate the suggestion!

Thanks for the suggestion! There is actually already a built-in rest timer for every exercise. Each workout has its own recommended rest duration based on how demanding the exercise is, so you can simply start the timer after your set without having to work it out yourself. I’m also looking at adding haptic alerts in a future update to make it even easier to stay focused between sets.

Consider adding a built-in rest timer with haptic alerts between sets since logging the weight is great but nothing kills momentum like fumbling with your phone to start a countdown when you're already gassed between heavy sets.
