Hi👋 I built Ondo Studio out of a small, repeated annoyance: every time I wanted to trim a two-minute clip, my options were to install a 2 GB desktop app, or upload personal footage to someone's server, wait, and get it back with a watermark on it. Browsers don't need that anymore. WebCodecs, WebGL and Web Audio are genuinely good enough to run a real editor locally — so that's what Ondo does. You open a tab, drag a file in, and it's on the timeline immediately, because there is no upload step at all. Your video never leaves your machine. That's also why it can stay free with no account: I don't store your files and I don't pay for the render. The parts I'm proudest of aren't the effect counts, they're the auto tools. Silence removal takes the dead air out of a talking-head video in one click and keeps linked video+audio in sync. Stabilization analyses the clip in a Web Worker so the app never freezes, and writes the result as ordinary keyframes you can hand-tune or undo. Auto-montage cuts your footage to the beat of your music. Honest limits: Chrome and Edge are best; Firefox falls back to Opus audio on export; Safari's WebCodecs support is limited, so export may not work there. And a long 4K export depends on your laptop, not my servers — that's the trade for privacy. I'd really like feedback on what feels missing, especially from people who edit on a laptop rather than a workstation. I'm reading every comment today.
