Backing up to your own Drive is a really clever angle, cuts out the usual trust question with cloud password managers. One thing I'd genuinely want: an emergency export option that splits the vault across a few trusted contacts using something like Shamir's secret sharing, so family can recover it if something happens to you. Would make the "no one can get in" pitch feel a bit safer for the long run.
@fevzi79122 Thank you Fevzi — you nailed the whole thesis. Owning your own backup means there's no third party to trust (or to breach), and I wanted that to be the default, not a paid add-on. On recovery: there's already an Emergency Access feature — you can generate an encrypted kit of your vault sealed under a passphrase and hand it (plus the passphrase, separately) to someone you trust, so family can get in if something happens to you. Fully manual, nothing auto-releases. Shamir's secret sharing is a genuinely great next step though — splitting the recovery secret across several trusted contacts so no single person holds the keys, and any k of them can reconstruct it. It fits the "no single point of trust" philosophy perfectly. Noting it down properly — this is the kind of long-term-safety feature I want to get right. Really thoughtful suggestion. 🙌
the self hosted angle is genuinely nice, no monthly fee is kind of a breath of fresh air honestly. one thing though, it would be really helpful to have a desktop browser extension so i'm not copying and pasting from the app every single time i log into something. that would probably make it a daily driver for me
@memetsanayi Really appreciate this, Memet — the "no monthly fee" thing is exactly the itch I built this to scratch, so it means a lot that it landed. And you've read my mind on the extension: a desktop browser extension is actively in the works right now. Same principle as the app — it opens your own Drive vault locally, so nothing sensitive touches a server in between. The copy-paste dance is the one thing I most want to kill, so this is high on the list. I'll make sure to ping you when it's ready for testing if you're up for it. 🙏
the google drive backup angle is honestly the part that sold me, i was not gonna trust another random cloud with everything in it. setup was quick and it just feels like an app instead of a whole ecosystem thing.
@grselkalpcztqo Appreciate that Gürsel! That was the whole point — your vault lives in your Drive, encrypted with a key only you hold, so there's no "trust our cloud" leap of faith. No new ecosystem, no lock-in. Thanks for trying it out. 🙏
