I really like the idea of a more democratised Product Hunt. I've never quite understood why PH couldn't go the Reddit route of having votes determine who made it to the front page rather then hand-selection.
That said, you really need to focus on a niche in order to get this off the ground. Right now the signal:noise ratio is pretty bad, there's games and other random stuff in the mix. Find a theme that allows you to really satisfy one small audience, and then expand out from there.
@nivo0o0 I wonder - what was there in first draft of @producthunt? I am sure Open Hunt will add features and fix things over time.

Interesting idea - I read through their post on hacker news and don't agree with a lot of the beefing on there. I was granted commenting access without submitting a product or asking
@chrismessina they're not public. How they get to the makers, 0 idea. How do they know who the makers are, 0 idea. For something so open, there are a lot of questions remaining.
