OpenBot is an open-source workspace for AI teammates. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, OpenCode, or custom agents on Mac, Windows, and iOS. Give agents clear roles, let them delegate work, and invite your team to collaborate live with the same agents.

Wow, that's a great timing because I was actually wondering if there's an open source or local-first alternative to Grok Bot. I am kind of skeptical of any AI assistant on cloud because of the privacy concerns.
@krutiparekh16 Totally understand the privacy concern. That’s why OpenBot supports local models through Ollama and LM Studio, when you use one, your prompts stay on your machine instead of going to a cloud AI provider.
Hey everyone, Norbert already covered what OpenBot is.
I just want to throw in a few use cases he didn’t get into, but I actually use OpenBot for them in my daily work.
Automating follow-ups so nothing slips - when a new customer inquiry comes in, I get a reminder every hour until I actually deal with it, and it's already logged in the CRM before I even open Slack
Keeping an eye on the internet for me - OpenBot tracks my social profiles or the subreddits I care about around the clock, and drops a summary of anything worth knowing every morning
Working on a project with my team, together - we share one project, and every automation we set up is visible to everyone it affects
Repetitive marketing work - weekly reports used to eat an afternoon. Now OpenBot triggers itself on schedule, pulls the data, builds the report, and sends it to whoever needs it
What's the degree of control that OpenBot allows to users? Can we customise the workflows creating custom agents and defining their roles?
@syed_shayanur_rahman Yes, you can create agents with custom roles and instructions, choose their models, tools, and permissions, then connect them through routines and agent-to-agent collaboration.
How does permissions work? Do agents ask for permission to access disk space or other resources?
@nuseir_yassin1 OpenBot asks for your consent before agents start. After that, they currently have full local access, files, commands and network, with no per-action prompts.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋

What is OpenBot
OpenBot is a free, open-source alternative to Grok Bot - a team of AI agents that runs locally on your own computer instead of cloud. Plug in the ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or OpenCode subscription you already have, no extra bill.
It also has a multiplayer mode, so your whole team can share a project and talk to the same agents together, live.
The problem
Grok Bot showed where AI is headed - agents that work for you. But it runs on a Linux server in the cloud: plenty of apps just don't work there, websites often flag and block that kind of server traffic outright, it costs $200-300/month on top of what you already pay, and there's no way for a team to actually work with the same agents together.
The solution
OpenBot gives you the same idea, built differently. It runs on your own Mac, Windows or Linux, so it sees exactly what you see, with none of the cloud restrictions. It uses the AI subscription you already have. And you can share a project with your whole team, so everyone talks to the same agents live.
Features & benefits
OpenBot runs entirely on your own machine - no cloud server, no Linux restrictions, no blocked apps or websites
Works with the ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and OpenCode subscription you already have - no extra bill
Multiplayer: share a project and your whole team talks to the same agents together, live - something Grok Bot doesn't have yet
Fully open source - the code is public, so anyone can verify it, contribute to it, or run it themselves
Pick from ready-made agents to get started instantly, or build your own from scratch
Run multiple specialist agents in parallel, each with its own memory - they hand off tasks to each other automatically
Agents handle everyday tasks on their own, and only stop to ask you before anything irreversible - like sending a message or spending money
What makes it different
Grok Bot proved agents can do real, multi-step work - we just don't think it should cost $300 a month, run on a server that half your tools can't even reach, or leave your team locked out of working with it together.
Who it's for
Developers and technical teams - not for writing code, but for watching the repo 24/7: catching new issues and pull requests, telling you what needs attention, and reporting back on what changed
Solo founders running a "one-person company." Bots can run sales, support, and ops for a fraction of what a cloud agent service costs
Agencies and teams who want to actually work together with their agents. Share a project and everyone talks to the same bots live
Teams that love automating everything - OpenBot is built for it. Different agents can each own a piece of a long, complicated process and hand off to each other until it's done
Anyone already paying for ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok who wants that subscription to stop just answering questions and start actually getting things done
Privacy-conscious users who'd rather their agent run on their own machine than a stranger's cloud computer
The product is live right now, try it yourself: openbot.run
I love how you can add any type of agent you want and that it's open source. Congrats for the launch, Norbert and Kamil.
@donmario Thanks so much, Mariusz! Glad you’re enjoying OpenBot!
"Multiplayer" is the keyword everyone should be looking at. That’s the future. Congrats on the launch and good hunt @rohanrecommends!
@roopreddy Thanks, Roop! We believe collaborative AI teams are a big part of the future, appreciate the support!
