Most kids' apps are noisy, flashy, and overstimulating. PaperTaps is the opposite.. PaperTaps is a calm, screen-friendly learning app for children aged 1-5. Every card looks like a page from a hand-illustrated children's book -- warm ink drawings on digital paper, with gentle interactions and works with just 5% brightness

Hey Product Hunt! 👋
This one is from a Dad!
A few months ago, I handed my 2-year-old daughter my phone to keep her busy for a few minutes. What she got was a screen full of flashing colors, autoplay videos, and ads disguised as buttons. She was overstimulated in seconds. I felt terrible.
That night, I watched her flip through her favorite bedtime book — a simple one with animals and textures. She was calm, curious, pointing at each page, making sounds. That's the experience I wanted on a screen.
So I built PaperTaps.
It's a dead-simple app: swipe through beautiful ink-drawn animals on a warm, paper-like background. Tap to hear the animal / character sound and a short story read aloud also trace the animal / character on the app (Drawing).
That's it. No ads. No autoplay. No rabbit holes. Just one animal at a time, like turning pages in a picture book.
A few things I'm proud of:
Bedtime mode — warm dark tones, slower narration, quieter sounds. Because screens before bed don't have to be harsh.
It feels like a book, not an app — no flashy animations, no bright colors. Just ink on paper. My daughter thinks she's reading a book, and honestly, that's the whole point.
I built this as a dad who just wanted something better for his kid. If you're a parent who's felt that same guilt handing over a screen — this is for you.
Would love your feedback.
