Since launch, the most common piece of feedback was that a single fixed "dark" wasn't dark enough for some people and too harsh for others. So instead of picking one shade for everyone, PDF Dark now has two independent sliders:

Handy little tool, flipped a research paper to dark mode in seconds and the charts actually stayed readable. No upload step is a nice touch for stuff I wouldnt want leaving my laptop.

Love to hear that the charts stayed readable — that's the whole point of handling images differently! And yeah, no uploads means your research stays private, which is exactly how it should be. Thanks for giving it a try!

That is exactly why I built it! 🙌 The 2am test is the real one — glad it passed. And yeah, keeping images in their original color while flipping the text is the trickiest part to get right, so I'm really happy you noticed. Thanks for giving it a try!

love this, the fact that it all stays in the browser is honestly the best part. one thing that would make it perfect for me is letting you tweak the contrast or warmth of the dark background, since pure black can feel a bit harsh during long reading sessions at night.

Thanks so much! Your suggestion is incredibly valuable — I'll definitely consider adding an intensity/tint adjustment in a future update. Really appreciate you sharing this!

Love how it keeps images in color, that was the dealbreaker for me with other tools. One thing that would make it even better: a brightness slider for the background and text so I can match it to my screen's ambient lighting at night.

Love that the image handling was the deciding factor for you — that's the whole reason I built this! 😄 And a brightness slider is a solid idea, I'll note it down for the next update. Appreciate the feedback!

Love how it runs entirely in the browser, that part is great. One thing that would make it a daily tool for me is letting me adjust the darkness level and background tint, since pure black feels a bit harsh on my eyes during long reading sessions.

Great point — pure black can definitely be a lot after a while. A tint/warmth slider is actually a really nice idea for dialing in the perfect reading feel. I'll add it to the list for future updates. Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!

the no upload part is what sold me, super handy for work docs. one thing that would make it perfect is letting me adjust the dark theme intensity, some PDFs with heavy graphics look better with a softer gray than full black background

Love that it keeps images in their original colors while flipping the background, honestly that detail alone shows they thought about how it actually feels to read a dark PDF instead of just inverting everything blindly.
