Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Ed, and I've been building PeakHour on my own for years.

PeakHour lives in your Mac's menu bar and shows you, in real time, what your internet is doing: your Wi-Fi, your router, your ISP and the path out to the wider internet.

The part of v6 I'm most excited about is the new AI Network Advisor. Network tools are great at showing you numbers, but a number doesn't tell you whether your connection is actually fine. The Advisor grades your connection from A+ to F, then explains in plain English what's going on: whether video calls, gaming and streaming will be smooth, and what to look at if they won't. The grade comes from your real measurements, and the explanation is written on your Mac by Apple Intelligence. Your network data never goes to a server to get an answer.

v6 also brings a new Liquid Glass dashboard, Wi-Fi Intelligence (signal, noise, channel, and names you give your access points), rewritten history charts that scroll back through weeks of data, routers that appear on their own, and an alert the moment your internet goes down, plus another when it's back.

A few things I care about: it's a native Mac app through and through, there are no analytics or tracking SDKs and no account to create, and there's a free trial with no signup. After that it's a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, your call.

Grading the connection A+ to F and explaining it in plain English is a nice touch - most menu bar network tools just dump raw numbers on you and expect you to know what "good" looks like. No account needed and it runs entirely on-device, which matters for something that's watching your network traffic all day.

The A-F grade is great but I'd like to tap into why a grade dropped historically - a simple timeline of grade changes over the day would help when troubleshooting an intermittent issue after the fact instead of only catching it live.

Fing is more focused on scanning devices on your home network. PeakHour is doing something different - grading the connection quality itself and explaining it, which is what I actually wanted day to day.
