This is a nice change from apps that push you to check in every day. It just gives you a calm space to slow down and write. What gave you the idea to build an app that doesn't want your attention all the time?
@yelyzaveta_kibets Honestly, it came from feeling a little tired of how much of the internet is designed to compete for our attention. Makers in our team also had previous experience using simple websites that played music with a timer or Pomodoro-style focus sessions, and we liked how helpful they could be for creating a little structure. Since we were focusing on wellbeing, we wanted to take that idea and make it feel calmer and more intentional, a small space you can visit when you feel like it, spend a few quiet minutes journaling or exploring, and leave without feeling like you owe the app anything. And, to top it all off, we thought an ocean theme would be a perfect fit. 🌊🐚
Building Pearl Club started with a simple thought: the internet doesn't always need to ask something from us.
Most digital products are built around keeping you engaged, productive, or coming back every day. We wanted to build something that felt different, a small virtual space where you can journal, listen to ambient sounds, play, collect sea creatures, explore, send a Message in a Bottle, or simply do nothing.
One of my favorite parts of building Pearl Club was realizing that we didn't need to add a reason for people to stay longer. If someone spends five minutes there, feels a little lighter, and leaves, that's a good experience to us.
There were definitely a lot of iterations, bugs, and moments where we questioned whether people would actually want something this simple. But seeing Pearl Club come together into the little world we imagined has made all of it worth it.
We're excited to finally have it live on Product Hunt, and we'd genuinely love to hear what you think. 🐚
