this is sweet, congrats @joshm and team!
i got a chance to download the app and try it out and the most friction-y part of the process is that i can't hold my phone up to my ear to either speak or listen to messages. kinda breaks my "phone" habit.
any plans to add that capability?
Love the idea @joshm! Was excited to test it out. A couple points of feedback, if you're interested.
My friends got confused by the original text w/ link asking them to join because there was no mention that it was coming from me, so it looked like spam and they deleted it.
Also, at first I entered the number of the person I was trying to call instead of my own, that part was unclear. Can't it just know my number?
Originally none of my friends had joined yet, so I was confused as to how to send anything to anyone.
And I wish there was a Send button so you could review your message/photo before it sends, like with Snapchat.
I could see this carving out a voicemail niche, but are the messages not permanent? After I sent a message back to my friend, his original message disappeared.
it was too spur of the moment (one week to build, one week to bug fix) to position it well, but we're definitely aiming at taking messages from phone calls more than texting/snapping
@tarngerine auto-record would be sweet, but i'd settle for not activating siri if there's any way to disable it while in the app. when i tried to listen to a message and i held it to my ear it kept playing through the bottom speaker
@kevin i'm not sure what people will use or won't use. personally, i hate leaving voicemails – waiting for phone to ring, risk the person picking up, etc. – and listening to them. and it's hard to use skype when you're commuting home. FaceTime is synchronous which is hard.
