Looks nice, but I'm another person amazingly cynical of the battery life claims considering cellular and the tiny size of the battery. Would love to be proven wrong, but going to have to see actual tests to back it up.

This looks great! It's just what I need for my luggage. Really excited for this to come out.
@greg_donaldson Ha. I thought somebody was going to call me out on that. I guess what I mean is that even if you know where your luggage is, it's still effectively lost. It's not like it's underneath a couch cushion or something. :)
@joshuapinter@greg_donaldson All true. It won't solve the problem of not having your luggage when you need it most (when you get to where you're going). But you will be able to recover it in due time.
@oleg_kubyshkin the crowdfunding page says it works for up to 3 months between charges. It also says Ping wins on battery life in comparison to Tile, which is false. Tile lasts a year. Granted, it's Bluetooth only. I just don't like it when things are over-simplified in marketing to the point of being incorrect or misleading. Nonetheless, I am very impressed by the size of the device and I hope it succeeds!

@bleistern sorry about that. Where do we say we beat Tile? Tile definitely lasts longer but it's a short range Bluetooth locator. We have longer battery life then almost all other god solutions we know of on the market. Thanks!
@jlippiner no sweat. Thanks for making it right. My suggestion would be just to change the language. Maybe have a "rechargeable" line item separately from a "battery life" line. Anyway looks like a great product! (Edited Feb 6th)
@jlippiner Will this work like a SPOT GPS or similar products for outdoor wilderness tracking?

@aub I believe SPOT is a communicator. We are a simple, elegant locating device so quite a bit different. Take a look at http://pinggps.com to learn more.
@jlippiner I think the GEN3 Spot is also a locator (it is not a two way communicator). Maybe the answer to this will help me -
Does Ping work without a cellular connection? Does it utilize Globalstar satellite, Iridium or COSPAS/SARSAT for GPS?
If so, you've also just made the best priced/featured/lightest GPS safety locator on the planet and probably every backpacker/hiker will be all over this. I realize that this is a locator and not a tracker from your FAQ, this is how some of these lower-fi GPS safety devices operate too. I still can't believe it is only 1oz! So awesome

@aub :) Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately we do not use any satellite communication systems, only cell, though we are using FOUR different cell networks for communication to help ensure deliverability.
@aaronmckeehan How small is small enough? Personally, I don't mind the size, it's the battery life that seems to be the limiting factor to using these on more items.
