@lylemckeany Thanks for bringing me into this discussion. This is definitely a cool lightweight version of what we offer.
We have thousands of reporters real email addresses and use machine learning to create a custom media lists based on the pitch content.
But if you're launching a project, I can see how this would be handy.

Agree @rrhoover...would love to know the results of something like this @yongfook. We are also currently evaluating whether or not PR Newswire is worth the cost.
I have to assume that personalized outreach works better, but if there are three people out there that will bite on one of these methods that I wouldn't think to reach out to myself, they'd be worth it.
@yongfook - great answer. Personal = more effective, less scalable.
Warning, mild tangent ahead!
I used to email EVERY subscriber of Startup Edition, using Rapportive to identify the company they worked for and replying with a personal, thoughtful message. Through this, I connect with hundreds of people and through those conversations, met many awesome founders/investors in SF. But eventually I had to stop. I got busy and as subscribers flowed in, I couldn't keep up. I do many similar things behind the scenes for Product Hunt and will soon reach a breaking point where I need to find a more scaleable solution to onboard and engage people.
@stefanobernardi - we have Intercom and I use it on occasion but import email subscribers (only Twitter registered users), although I bet we could update it to do so.
I'm not a fan of its email template though. Even if it's personalized, it feels less personal than a standard text email. Maybe it supports the latter now. I should look into it more.
I tried this service and I can say that I'm really not happy with it. I didn't get anything but a bunch of spammy responses trying to get me to pay for featured app placement. Doesn't really make sense for a startup to pay a bunch of cash for a "new app" IMO.
