I used to create a spreadsheet manually to compare protein powders every time I was going to buy. When friends started asking to use my spreadsheet, I realized this needed to be a more scalable system that could be shared and always stay up to date.
So I built PricePerProtein - it automatically pulls prices from Amazon daily and calculates the actual protein per dollar for 3000+ products. No more manual spreadsheets, no more outdated data.
I also shipped an MCP server for this project. It exposes the data as a MCP tool, so your LLM client can query the data directly (and do filtering / sorting). Totally unnecessary for most users, but it’s fun to use. mcp.priceperprotein.com

Price per gram of protein is the metric that matters. Smart to group all sizes/flavors together. Do you calculate based on serving size protein or total container protein?

Total container makes way more sense - eliminates the serving size manipulation some brands do. This is going to save so many people from overpaying!
