Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built PrivateLingo because the best friendships already have their own inside language, nicknames, code words, jokes nobody else gets. I wanted an app that made that real.
Every time you message a friend, PrivateLingo swaps your words for invented ones and quietly builds a shared vocabulary that's yours alone. It starts with a handful of words on day one and grows into a whole language the more you talk. You can name each friendship's language, keep a daily streak, and slide any message between English, Mixed, and Secret.
It's private by design, one-on-one, not big feeds. You pick exactly who you connect with, and you can block, unfriend, or report anyone at any time.
Live on Android now, iOS coming shortly. I'm the solo dev, I'd love your feedback and questions 🙏

Love how it grows a shared vocab over time, that part feels really personal. One thing that would help though is letting us export the dictionary weve built together, so we can save the words and meanings somewhere outside the app in case we ever switch devices or want a little keepsake of inside jokes weve created.

Love this idea, the shared vocab mechanic sounds genuinely fun. One thing that would seal it for me is a quick export of our made-up words as a little glossary, maybe with who coined each one and when. That way the language we've built together isn't trapped inside the app and we can look back at how our private dialect actually evolved over time.

Tested it with my partner and the mixed mode actually got us laughing, the streak feature feels like a gentle nudge to keep going.

A shared word history sidebar would be amazing so you can scroll back and see when a certain invented word first popped up in your chats, makes the inside jokes feel even more meaningful over time.

The idea of a shared invented vocabulary is genuinely fun, but the "reveal" moment feels missing for me. A way to see the full dictionary you and a partner have built together, maybe with little defintions or the moment each word first appeared in chat, would make those inside jokes feel more like a keepsake over time.

The mixed/secret toggle is a clever twist, the daily word thing feels like a nice little ritual rather than a chore.
