So excited to see PH try something new, and very honored to be chosen as the first book. We're working on a REDACTED excerpt right now (because many of the details in the book are not yet cleared for publication). In the meantime, I'll stick around PH and happy to answer a few questions this morning.
PS. @eriktorenberg is right - the worst part of any book club is when people don't read the book. And it's hardest to remember to read the first book, because the club hasn't even met yet.
@eriktorenberg Glad to see you got this going, I think it's a great idea.
I also think you should consider Amy Wilkinson and The Creator's Code. I interviewed her for StartupBookbuzz.com and she has a lot of great information based on hundreds of interviews with founders.
@benparr - Captivology Also a great interview and great information. When he says its the "science of capturing people's attention" he means it. (interview with him coming out tomorrow.)
Nice initiative! For those of you reading with an iPad, our app Addr is totally designed for this kind of initiative, ie a book club where readers can share their annotations for a similar book: www.getaddr.co
Our next app Libr is on its way, it's gonna be about library peering between friends to offer the experience of borrowing ebooks from friends right in your iPad… (coming soon on PH)
Great idea! I'm always inspired by books, and it's even better to share thoughts with peers as well as the authors themselves.
If you're interested in talking about product management careers and tough PM case interview questions, I'd be happy to do a future AMA for my book, Decode and Conquer: Answers to Product Management Interviews (http://amzn.to/1dM7kce).
Dan Ariely has a couple of great books on psychology and behavioral econ. I know he's involved with a few startups as well. With Habit Summit and this field getting more popular now, I'd love to hear how Dan applies his research into products!
Given that so much of entrepreneurship is psychological and spiritual, I'd throw in a vote for Russell Simmons - Life and Def. I learned so many startup and life principles from that book - before I even did my first startup! Plus Russell would be an amazing AMA guest. He always comes with the knowledge and inspiration.
Great idea @producthunt team!
