@_taurean InDesign is still the best tool for creating documents like these. We just had to make an executive decision on that. Plus, all the designers we talked to have either CS6 or a subscription to CC (which comes with InDesign).

@_taurean We also include customization instructions (since not all designers know every feature of iD). 🤘

@_taurean I think all designers should have a general understand of the top 3 (photoshop, illustrator, and indesign)

@bacheller I don't know if I agree. For starters, it entirely depends on the type of design work you're doing. I also don't think the emphasis should be on what programs you can use but instead on the ability to do the real work. Tools change but the methodologies stay largely the same. I haven't used any of those three professionally in about two years.
