hi product hunt! it's my pleasure to introduce you to rainfrog 🐸 – a database management tui for postgres a few months ago, i was looking for an alternative to pgadmin/dbeaver that would provide the conveniences of a gui with the simplicity and aesthetic of a tui (terminal ui) i stumbled upon a rust library called ratatui (https://ratatui.rs/) and thought it'd be fun to learn, so i decided to try making my own db client with it. one thing led to another, and, before i knew it, i was hell-bent on replacing pgadmin with my own tui, despite pgadmin being a perfectly adequate tool 🫨 after some initial feedback gathering, bug fixing, and polishing, i'm excited to launch it today in beta! right now it has... ⌨️ efficient navigation via vim-like keybindings and mouse controls 📝 a query editor with keyword highlighting and session history 💽 the ability to quickly copy data, filter tables, and switch between schemas 🔍 shortcuts to view table metadata and properties 📱 cross-platform compatability (macOS, linux, windows, android via termux) you can find the full roadmap 🛣️ for development in the issues tab, but here are a few things i have planned: - support for mysql, sqlite, and perhaps a few others - auto-completion and hints for the editor - customizations for everything from the colors to the keybindings - exporting data to csv let me know if you have any feedback or questions! and feel free to open issues with any bugs 🐞 or any feature requests 🛠️

This is sick -- saw it on HN yesterday. Seems like the benefit over psql is ease of use / speed? e.g. previewing rows and columns of tables quickly?

@sohan_choudhury yep, jumping between/searching for tables and previewing their rows, columns, and indexes quickly is much easier! especially when there are many tables/schemas and i don't remember their names another one is a more comfortable editing experience for queries. thx for the support :)
