I stopped keeping my music in the cloud for the same reasons as my photos — money and privacy — but there was nowhere to go. Streaming means renting your own collection back every month, and the local alternatives were all Electron apps or things that felt like they were built for a NAS admin, not for actually enjoying music. So I built Raza Music, the sibling app to Raza Photos I released a few months back. Same principles, same architecture: completely native Swift 6, no internet connectivity, no telemetry, no ads, no accounts. You point the Mac app at your music folders — it indexes the tags and leaves every file exactly where it is, nothing moved or converted. Using Bonjour, it advertises itself on your home network, and any iPhone, iPad, or other Mac in the house discovers it instantly. Got music on two Macs? Both show up automatically as one merged library. You can browse as album art in a grid or scan fast as a list, and filter by artist, album, genre, language, or release year from the sidebar — pick an artist and everything else narrows to match. There's an immersive Now Playing view with full-window album art and a queue, and a daily welcome screen with an Artist, Album, and Song of the Day when nothing's playing. You can edit tags — title, artist, album, genre, release year, album art — right from your iPhone, batched across your whole selection, and the changes write back to the file's own tags. You can build new albums from any device, and playlists are shared with everyone in the house rather than tied to one phone — if a Mac goes offline, its songs just drop out of the playlist instead of breaking it. Library Health filters find the tracks missing a genre, artist, language, or release year, so nothing quietly falls through the cracks. Supports MP3, MP4, M4A, and M4B, including audiobooks with chapters. Requires macOS 26 and iOS 26 or later — sorry, no exceptions, this is built entirely on the latest Apple frameworks.
