Readox is a text-to-speech Chrome extension that reads web pages, PDFs, screenshots, and selections aloud right in your browser. The premium voices run on your machine, not on a server, so there are no character caps, no monthly listening limits, and your text stays local. Word highlighting tracks the current word so it's easy to follow along while reading visually. Save anything you want to hear later (articles, PDFs, LLM responses, pasted notes) into a queue and play through it like a podcast.

Hi Product Hunt Community!
Readox is a Chrome extension that reads web pages, PDFs, selections, text files (markdown, .txt), and pasted notes aloud. OCR is built in, so it also handles scanned PDFs and screenshots where the text is just an image.
You can play the current page directly, or save things to a library and queue them up. It highlights words as it reads, keeps your place across items, and resumes where you left off. The premium voices, PDFS, and OCR run on-device, so there are no character caps, no monthly limits, and your text stays local. It also works offline after setup.
Also keyboard shortcuts and configurable AI summary generation.
I'd love feedback on two things: the library/collections angle as a "playlist-like" listening queue, vs. just a play button for the current page; and anything that feels missing or awkward when you try it.
Thanks for taking a look!
