Just upvoted 👏 This looks awesome!
I'm curious, how does Readwell's AI learn about my taste over time? Does it adapt based on what I search, click, or read?
Readwell
@ha_anh_nguyen Hi Anh, yes it does evolve as you keep refining your likes and dislikes; the app learns more about your taste to give you better recommendations.
Love the ‘Spotify for books’ analogy—it really captures how effortless discovery should feel. Really impressed with the summaries feature — are they purely AI‑generated or do you also have editors curating or checking them?

@new_user__26620221ad98bdc17e6dc92 Hi Hannah, really appreciate that! Since our goal is to provide insights across a massive number of books, we use AI to help generate the summaries, it allows us to scale quickly as the library keeps growing. That said, we’re constantly refining the quality to make sure what we show feels clear and useful.

I love this idea, will there be ways to get recommendations based upon what others are reading too? For example, if I'm into entrepreneurship, will it help identify the top books from this topic that are most popular from this month/year, etc?

@lienchueh Hi Lien, one of our goals is exactly that, using AI to refine recommendations by learning not just what you like, but also what others with similar tastes are enjoying. Over time, this will help us highlight the best books in any topic, like entrepreneurship, based on what’s trending or resonating most with readers.
Readwell
@lienchueh Yes absolutely, this would be a great feature. Also workign on "Following" bookshelves, so you can see what others are reading, so if say "Sam Altman" has a bookshelf, you can follow it and see if your interests align.
This is such a great idea!
I would love to use this app to discover more books. I've been consuming so many books lately, since I switched to Audible.
Any reason why it's a phone app and not a web app? (I don't have an iPhone so I am not able to use it 😔)

@k_j1 Hi Kavya, we're launching on Android soon, hope you get a chance to download and use it!

Nice! Think adding a social element would also do extremely well here. What are my friends reading and what would I get recommended from that
Readwell
@friso_van_de_stadt That's a great idea. We'll be introducing "Public Bookshelves" that users can follow to see what others are reading; it could be your friends or A16Z's bookshelf. Just like playlists in Spotify.

@vladches nice, i like it!

I have never understood why anyone would leave their reading choices to the choice of whatever pulbishing house is paying for a feature on current shelves. I am an avid user of Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1902224-kevin-mcdonagh and I am so open to someone toppling it's dominance. I love following authors and acquaintances to keep my reading sharp and I really like these smart features but I'm on Android :( Please lean into what Goodreads does not do, this is where all challengers have failed. They keep trying to recreate good reads, don't bother, just work on the FOMO and capitalise on the fact that goodreads never ever update. You could get really far really fast for a small die hard audience.

@kevin_mcdonagh1 Hey Kevin, really appreciate you taking the time to write this. You nailed something we’ve been thinking about a lot: we’re not here to recreate Goodreads, we’re here to do what it doesn’t. That means smart discovery, real personalization, and an experience that actually evolves. Once we launch on Android (coming soon), we would love to receive your feedback.
