Very well executed product! I am Canadian so I can't fully experience the UX.. However I would love to point out that this ID scanning technology could be used by.. Police Forces!.. At times of incidents! (So they don't have to go back to the patrol car.) This would be perfect for collecting everyone's IDs at scenes of incident (for review and report filling).. Of course this involves building a new Policing app.. I was just inspired by your product and thought I'd share my idea.. Thanks for reading! Jaswinder Brar

I think us product-geeks will be worried about security, but the vast majority will find this painless, easy, and a joy to use especially if this were discovered in areas where millennial voters are discussing politics, like Facebook or Twitter.

Very cool, minus the fact that you may need an ID, which is a huge barrier to entry for many. In all, anything that makes our (US) democracy more accessible is a good thing. Rock The Vote is doing something cool with Virgin America now where you can register to vote in-flight. 👍

@rueter The ID is unfortunately a requirement at this time because almost every state needs a signature on file with the DMV for registration. You can register to vote online in some states without an ID, but if you do not have a signature on file, you must mail a form in confirming your address before you are officially registered.

Hi everyone, another maker here who did a large part of the development work. Thank you so much for all of your support and input. We want this app to be as seamless and secure as possible, so please don't hesitate to let us know how we can improve. I'm happy to answer any technical questions you might have about the app. Like Nathaniel said, every connection is established securely using the state registrar's official certificate, and absolutely none your information is stored by anyone but the state. We keep the information in the app while you register, and then permanently delete it on submission. We're working hard to add the remaining 19 states before the general election, and we're always looking for good developers to help us get there. I'm primarily an iOS developer, so Android skills are highly prized to help us reach across platforms and register as many voters as possible. Please let me know if I can clarify anything or address any specific technical concerns, and thanks again for checking us out! -Michael

I honestly believe services like this are extremely important. As a generation we are being overlooked and silenced because of a lack of online presence in politics. Not just in America but globally. As Ben said it's so due for an overhaul.
