Review remove.bg?
Reviewers praise remove.bg for fast, accurate cutouts that save time, with many citing reliable results on hair and complex edges and an easy interface for everyday and pro workflows. However, multiple users criticize the credit-based pricing: HD downloads require credits, rollover is limited, and unused credits can vanish after downgrades or cancellation; some also report recent UX slowdowns and occasional processing errors. I have an image of a cat that was drawn in charcoal on paper that I have wanted to remove the background from so that I can use it on a tee shirt - just the cat - but I could NOT remove the background. Adobe Photoshop's "Remove background" function failled because it removed a huge chunk of the actual image and there was no way I wanted to try to compensate for that.
Remove.bg results were literally perfect and EXACTLY what I was hoping for and it kept the same resolution of the original 300 DPI.
Here's a tip for those out there who may find that they have an image they want to keep at the highest quality as possible but you can't seem to get the size down to the 50 MB or less limit.
My original image was 22 x 24 inches at 360 DPI - it was scanned directly from the original.
The actual file at that size was 195 MB.
What I did was the following:
1. Reduced the DPI to 300 - plenty for almost any high quality output.
2. Then I cropped the image down to 15 x 15 inches
3. Saved the TIFF file that I had the original in as a PNG which yielded a 37.5 MB PNG and then uploaded it.
Specifying that I wanted full size and no drop shadow.
Voila - perfecto! Remove.bg - Made my Day!

Terrible Credit Downgrade Policy
Downgrading credits is a nightmare! I had 6000 extra credits and wanted to reduce my monthly billing to around 1000 by pausing or slowing it down. But with the new system, they also limit how many credits you can carry over—so instead of keeping my unused credits, I was only allowed to take over 200 credits to the lower subscription. Feels like a blatant cash grab. Extremely frustrating and unfair!
What needs improvement
credit system issues (8)pricing model concerns (9)limited credit rollover (4)
Hi there! You can roll over 5x your monthly credit limit. For example, if you downgraded to the 200 credit a month plan, then you would be able to roll over 1,000 credits into your next month. We provide this information about roll over credits on our Pricing page, during checkout, and in our FAQ. Please feel free to reach out to at https://www.remove.bg/support if you have any other concerns about your credits or subscription!

@Code Master, losing 6,000 credits feels like a literal robbery. 😱 Usage-based billing shouldn't have an expiration date. Since you're looking for a more fair way, I'd love for you to try WebAITool dot net It's 100% free and I built it to counter these exact credit-trap models. No limits, no catch
Couldn't be simpler. Just wish it would allow for higher resolution images without paying but I understand why they wouldn't do that. A life saver i'd say.
I always use it for simple, everyday tasks. As a web developer, it makes my life much easier, and I really appreciate that they don't charge for the low-quality download version. Wonderful :D
I love it most because it does what it advertises to do. Its user friendly for an old duck and its affordable. I am using it to make special photographs of AND for my family/ To date I have spent a lot of my limited funds, trying to find a program that I did not need to be a graphics boffin to use. Products as easy as yours should advertise a "Granny Use" star rating so we can identify you in the gazillion options on the Internet.

It worked good. I a selected a area on my picture to erase and it continuously erased a totally different not even close part of my picture I was trying to erase. It got frustrating because it was also doing that in other places too. I don't know why it is doing this because it has never happened before.

We've been using Remove.bg for over a year now, and I have to say that the quality of their background removal is perfect. However, be very cautious about their pricing model and the credit system. Our business peaks significantly during November and December due to the holiday season, requiring us to upgrade to higher plans temporarily. Unfortunately, when downgrading back to lower plans, you lose some of the unused credits you've purchased. You only discover this policy when requesting a downgrade, after which you realize credits rollover is limited to just five months—a fact buried deep in the FAQ. So I strongly recommend carefully reviewing their terms to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

@josh_flores2 The credit rollover limit is such a pain for seasonal businesses! I faced a similar issue which is why I decided to build a 'Utility First' alternative called WebAITool dot net It's 100% free and doesn't use a credit system or sign-ups at all. Might be a stress-free option for your off-peak months!"
