I just downloaded Rocket Journal and gave it a quick spin, and honestly it feels very different from most journaling apps I’ve tried. Usually when I open a journaling app, I’m already dreading the blank page or the pressure of “doing it right.” Here, I just tapped record and started talking. Within a minute, I forgot I was even using an app—it felt more like leaving a voice note for myself. The design is clean, quiet, and calming, which made it surprisingly easy to get into.
I only used it for about five minutes, but I can already see the appeal. Rant Mode really does let you unload without thinking too much, while Reflect Mode feels like it could be useful on days when I want more direction. That said, as a brand-new user, I wasn’t completely sure when to switch between the two, and I wondered if it could guide me a little more smoothly. I also found myself wishing I could tag or flag a rant as “worth revisiting,” since sometimes those messy thoughts end up being the most meaningful.
The biggest thing missing for me in this first session was a small glimpse of what the AI can do. Even a one-line takeaway after the very first rant—something like “sounds like you’re stressed about work” or “you mentioned family a lot”—would have made the experience feel instantly rewarding. I get that deeper insights will come over time, but as a new user, a little feedback would make me want to come back tomorrow. Still, for a first run, it was refreshingly simple and I can see myself using this on commutes or before bed when typing feels like too much.
Hey PH 👋
I’m Jonah from Rocket Health, and I’m excited to share something we’ve been building.
For years, journaling apps have mostly focused on typing — polished templates, structured reflections, long entries. But sometimes, you’re too overwhelmed to type. Your thoughts are messy. You just want to speak and let it out. That’s where Rocket Journal began.
We built it as a voice-first journaling companion — something that lets you be raw, unfiltered, and real.
There are two modes:
Rant Mode: just hit record and talk — like a private voice note to yourself
Reflect Mode: structured prompts to guide deeper self-reflection when you’re ready
Once you’re done, the app gives you AI-powered insights — emotional themes, recurring thoughts, and reflections over time.
All designed to help you build a gentle habit of checking in with yourself — even on your most scattered days.
We’re trying to reimagine journaling for people who think out loud.
And we’re still very early in this journey.
It’s a work in progress
We’re learning every day — what helps people stick with journaling, what feels intrusive, what genuinely creates emotional clarity.
🙏 I’d love to hear from you:
What would you love to see in a journaling app like this?
If you try it, what felt good? What didn’t?
Any thoughts on what could make it more useful, comforting, or even fun?
Drop your thoughts here or message us directly. We’re all ears.
Thanks for checking it out 💙
@jonah_eapen Congrats on the launch Jonah! Love the idea of a voice-first journaling tool — sometimes typing just doesn’t match the flow of messy thoughts. Can’t wait to give this a try, it feels super comforting!
@lacope Thanks Laia! That’s exactly what we hoped for — a place where messy thoughts don’t need polishing. Excited to hear what you think once you’ve tried it 🙏
@jonah_eapen Sure!!!
@jonah_eapen This could be a really useful product for me - I ruminate daily and often lose my train of thought or depth of feeling when I have to type or write at the same time. Being able to just talk while focusing on my thoughts and emotions in the moment feels much more natural. I also like the Rant + Reflect split.
One question: can the app automatically flag or track recurring emotional themes over the course of weeks so I can see patterns in what's weighing me down the most? Also, how many languages are supported? I usually ruminate in Ukrainian or Russian since English is not my native language.
@anastasiiazhur Really appreciate you sharing this. Yes — the app can already surface recurring themes over time, so you start spotting patterns. Multi-language is something we’ve been asked about a lot, so that’s definitely on our radar.

Congrats on your launch 👏 Reflect Mode + Daily Affirmations is a powerful combo. Might be cool if affirmations could evolve based on my journaling themes over time, so they feel extra personal 👀
@talshyn Thanks so much, Talshyn!
That idea about evolving affirmations based on journaling themes is super interesting 👀

Woah!
The app looks great. Slick design!
Congrats on the launch @jonah_eapen @priyanka_sharma2603.
Instant download 🔥
@priyanka_sharma2603 @jatinsandilya Appreciate that! Hope you enjoy using it as much as we loved building it 🚀

Congrats on the launch, Jonah! 🚀 Love the voice-first approach. Sometimes typing just doesn’t capture the messy, raw stream of thoughts. Have you found people lean more toward using Rant Mode for daily check-ins, or Reflect Mode for deeper sessions?
@andreitudor14 Thanks so much, Andrei! 🚀
Really appreciate you noticing the voice-first angle — that was one of the biggest motivations behind building Rocket Journal. You’re spot on: most folks use Rant Mode when they just need to vent or do a quick emotional check-in, especially on hectic days. But we’re starting to see Reflect Mode getting picked up more for evening wind-downs or weekend journaling when people have a bit more headspace.
Curious to see how those patterns evolve as more folks use both!
@jonah_eapen That’s interesting, I can see how the split between quick venting and deeper reflection maps to different rhythms in people’s days. Almost like journaling has its own “micro-use cases” depending on mood and time. Do you think you’ll keep the two modes distinct, or is there a world where they could blend (like starting with a rant that naturally flows into reflection)?
@andreitudor14 That’s such a great point, Andrei — and funnily enough, something we wrestled with early on.
In our initial ideation, we actually explored a single conversational flow where you could start off venting and naturally be guided into a reflective state (or vice versa). Sort of like chatting with a companion that intuitively meets you where you are.
But we ended up separating Rant and Reflect to make the entry points feel clearer, especially for first-time users who might just want a low-friction way in.
Now that you bring it up again, it’s definitely sparking thoughts — maybe there’s still a way to bring in that fluidity later on. Appreciate you surfacing this!
Sounds cool! From a communication perspective, one thing that would be helpful to me is if when speaking thoughts, the responses from the app were primarily questions. Having gone through a few therapy sessions in the past, I found it less helpful when the therapist was trying to provide an analysis than when the therapist just kept asking questions. Continuous questions helped me realize things about myself more completely.
Will check it out!
@matthew_glossop Thanks Matthew! This is a very helpful feedback.
Rocket Journal
Interesting!
Having a feature called 'Rant Mode' lit me up in laughter...
Will be waiting for the Android launch. All the best, team!
@ashok_nayak Hey Ashok, thanks for that.
And yes — Android is coming. We don’t have an exact date yet, but it’s high on our list. Appreciate you being patient and excited about it 🙏
This app is like having a non-judgmental listener who helps me reflect on how I really feel. Rocket Journal’s voice journaling plus insight tracking can change how I understand my own moods. Strong tool for mindfulness and emotional clarity.
@wayne_appgrowing Much love 🙏
