@nikitakorotaev I noticed that problem yes. Lesson I learned: always do a final version test with a fresh group of testers.
I'm thinking about a 'register later' button. Thanks for the feedback!
@rrhoover That video took me 3 days to figure out whats the best way of recording. From blue screen to green screen to a photo studio. The hard part is the timing, I actually made it a little slower from the first version.
1. Depends a lot on the length of the trip and where you're meeting.
2. Thats a huge challenge yes. I hope I make a chance by making a super easy and fast flow.
I think Routeshare can be great for brands. For example: your cable supplier who's coming to fix your internet texting you a link with their ETA or your car repair service when you stuck on the road.
@emieljanson this looks great, and I'm also impressed with the homepage video. slick demo
I frequently use Moby (http://mo.by/) when I'm meeting up with someone - look forward to trying Routeshare!
@rrhoover you know when I use this kind of thing is (1) if I'm running late they can see me vs me guessing I'm 10 min away, (2) when I'm meeting someone in the middle or a non-specific location (eg: the great lawn in central park) it makes it really easy to see someone's location and actually be able to walk and turn based on where the other person heading. If they're running behind, I walk a little farther instead of waiting
Oh, I missed the commercial aspect. I do like that a lot better. Obviously a much larger challenge due to companies like Comcast, Dish, Verizon, etc primarily using contractors and union laborers.
Awesome app! I love Glympse already, although it's full of too many features and is confusing. This seems much much simpler -- downloading now!
One feature request: the ability to choose "location of the receiver" as the location. Personally, 99% of the time, I'm going to wherever the person I'm sending it to is (usually to pick them up).
It would save me a bunch of typing (important, since I'm usually using Glympse when I'm late).
Quick update -- just downloaded it; it's great. Deleted Glympse :)
I'm sure you have a list, but here's my final list of feature requests:
* No accounts, just let me use it
* Let the receiver indicate the final location
* Connect to my calendar and guess where I'm going (if there's something within the next 2-3 hours)
Overall, great job!
Wow, so much comments. Great!
I'm implanting a "continue without registration" option right now and think it will be available from next week.
@mulligan I'm not a fan of forcing other people to download an app. That's why Routeshare works like it does right now. I won't force the receiver to download the app, I think if they like what they're seeing they will still download the app.
@gkoberger Connecting with your calendar, I see. That's a cool idea. Putting that one on the feature wish list somewhere.
@emieljanson awesome to see you launching this, just installed it. I was a big Twist app user and really came to love the app but of course wished for a couple improvements which I'm happy to share.
As for the other folks wondering if there is a big need. My answer is yes. From what I saw, I used it in my daily life all the time. Don't think about as something you're using with acquaintances for meetings etc, it's more about giving a bit more insight to friends and family. I shared this with friends of my who live in the Northern Virginia suburbs and they were so angry when Twist stopped working. They were literally obsessed with using the app.
Lastly, from a commercial perspective (@rrhoover), if you read old articles about Twist, you'll see this was their aspiration as well. They wanted to be able to have the cable guy send you a Twist once he was on his way from his previous job. I do think there is definite potential in the commercial side with deliveries, appointments however I will say that all that may be needed is an ETA that's accurate ;)
So, I hope you evolve your app to be multi-user such as Twist was vs. sending a link for someone to see me only (which I appreciate nonetheless because I wanted this with Twist as well for people who didn't use the app).
