It’s a local-first, offline-capable app that puts powerful tools — like interlinear Greek/Hebrew, multiple translations, lexicon lookups, AI-assisted study, and seamless note-taking — right at your fingertips, all wrapped in an intuitive, distraction-free interface. It was born from my own frustration: I wanted to dig into the original languages and compare translations, but every tool I tried felt clunky, slow, or locked behind paywalls. So, I built what I wished existed — and now I’m sharing it with you. When I started, Scriptura was just a personal project — a way to study the Bible more deeply on my own device. But as I added features (like split-view, keyboard shortcuts, and AI integration), I realized others might benefit too. It all happened in phases: 1. Focus on Core UX: I prioritized clean navigation, fast verse lookup, and beautiful typography — because if it’s not enjoyable to use, no one will stick with it. 2. Privacy First: From day one, I designed it to store everything locally. No accounts. No cloud sync. Your notes, highlights, and bookmarks stay on your device — because your Bible study is sacred, not data to monetize. 3. Community Feedback: Early testers helped shape features like smart book abbreviations (“mk” for Mark, “1co” for 1 Corinthians) and the translation management system. Their input made Scriptura better, not just bigger. 4. AI Integration Done Right: Instead of forcing AI on users, I made it optional — available when you want insight, but never intrusive. The goal? To enhance understanding, not replace personal reflection. 5. What makes Scriptura unique?
