About
I am the founder of Klexaro Labs, maker of Secure Redact & Klexaro, and this is my first-ever product launch! I made both products to solve my own pain points, but today my focus is on Secure Redact—a boring, but useful tool.
My products are deeply inspired by tools like BBEdit & VSCode and I strive to attain the same robustness and quality.
My story is simple. While working with ChatGPT, I accidentally copy-pasted a text prompt that had my AWS secret key embedded in it. After the absolute panic of rotating all my leaked keys, I decided to build a solution.
While my wake-up call came from AI, I wanted to ensure I built a platform-agnostic utility, as this problem can emerge in a variety of places—such as copy-pasting logs, updating GitHub tickets, sending emails, or sharing text across any messaging or collaboration tool.
I initially started building a simple personal tool to help me redact sensitive info like API keys from text. But as I progressed, I got obsessed with the problem and kept going (and wasted a few months!). I ended up adding 20+ detection patterns across credentials, identity data, financial info, and system identifiers (imagine how boring this was!). Then, I added custom threat feed support so users can import their own blocklists to catch malware domains and phishing threats in text. And the most boring part? I verified the tool with almost 3,000 test cases!!
The result is a fully offline redaction tool that never sends your data anywhere. Zero servers, zero tracking, entirely on your device. It’s a tool that gives me 100% assurance that when I use it, all data stays with me and there is absolutely nothing going on behind the scenes!
Key features:
— 20+ data types detected automatically
— 4 redaction strictness levels
— Bring your own threat feed (BYOF)
— Local audit logs & analytics (I love when boring data looks beautiful)
Would love your feedback — and if there's a specific data type, threat feed, or text pattern you'd like detected, let me know. Although the tool dashboard is individual, I did consider adding a central team dashboard for admins — let me know if there's a use case. I have currently launched for the Apple ecosystem, but Windows, Android, and Linux builds are almost ready — just let me know if there's interest
My name is Dheeraj Klair. I am a slightly older generation founder in my 40s. I don't have a large following or a crowd to invite here—so my goal for this launch is to get useful feedback so I can improve my product further and add new features I may not have thought about.
Wishing you all a great day.
