ShannonGuides is a growing library of plain-language privacy and security guides for complete beginners. Each guide starts from zero — no jargon, no assumed knowledge — and covers real, practical territory: escaping Google, building a private tech stack, operational security, encrypted communications, GrapheneOS, data broker removal, and more. Written from direct hands-on experience, not research. Guides are $40 each, with bundle pricing available for the full library.

Hey everyone — Matt here, the person behind ShannonGuides.
I built these because I kept seeing the same problem: privacy and security content online is either "install these 5 apps" listicles that don't explain anything, or dense technical docs that assume you already know what you're doing. Nothing in between for someone who just wants to actually understand what they're doing and why.
So I started writing guides that explain things from zero — the reasoning, not just the steps. They're written from stuff I've actually set up and use myself, not research pulled together for a blog post.
Would love any feedback, and happy to answer questions about any of the topics — privacy stacks, GrapheneOS, de-Googling, OPSEC, whatever.

honestly the bundle pricing is what would push me over the edge, but a monthly or yearly subscription tier would be nice too, like a netflix style thing where new guides drop in as they're released and you get access to everything for one flat fee

@medineasl16675 Really appreciate this — bundle access is exactly the direction I want to grow in. For now there's a Foundation Set and a Complete Library bundle on the site if you want more than one guide at a discount. Noting the subscription interest for down the road!

Finally a privacy resource that doesn't assume i already know what a VPN is. The Google escape guide alone felt like someone walked me through it step by step instead of throwing acronyms around.

@fatihpeketekno This means a lot — that's exactly what I set out to do. Most privacy guides are written by tech people for tech people, and I wanted the opposite. Glad the Escaping Google one landed for you.

Bought the data broker removal guide last week and the step-by-step walkthrough actually got three old listings wiped for me. Wish I'd found this months ago.
