We’re excited to present ShlinkedIn, an open-source satirical social network where everyone is a thought leader. Create an alter ego, business jab your friends, make your own ads, and write inspirational posts with lots of hashtags. #monday #morning #inspo
Hi Product Hunt!
My friends and I have long bonded over the ridiculousness of our LinkedIn feeds. We are constantly amazed and confused at the mish-mash of content marketing, thought leadership, and broetry that makes up 90% of our LinkedIn feeds.
So, we thought: why not create our own social network, part fake LinkedIn, part The Onion, part something else, and call it... ShlinkedIn?
So far it's all been private, but we're excited to open it up to anyone who wants to join today!
Some of our favorite ShlinkedIn features:
* Everyone is an alter ego. Some examples: Serious Business Man. Receptionist at Monsters Inc. Optomizer. Elon's Husk.
* All the ads in the feed are user generated. You can "buy" or "sue" any ad
* There's an entire ShlinkPoints economy
* Write your own clickbait for "ShlinkNews"
* You can "business jab" someone to get their attention
* Endorse or write testimonials for your friends. I'm PROUD of my 3/5 star rating.
Also, I decided to make it entirely open-source, because no one (including us) has much trust in centralized social networks these days. Working on this has been a great way to learn a lot of Elixir / Phoenix Liveview.
I'd love for you to join, create an alter ego, invite your friends, endorse them for random skills, make your own group. It's all still rough around the edges, but we we're excited for you to explore this strange fun world we've created!
I have no idea how long it took you to make this, but I am impressed. 11/10, would laugh again. Can you guys pass me your contact info? Got a couple questions.

Have you ever said sarcastic things about your day job, written satirical comments about corporate culture, or enjoyed similar material by others?
I know you have. Don't lie. We've all been there.
Well, next time you get that urge, don't waste your time trolling on LinkedIn, Slack, or *shudder* Microsoft Teams. Hop on to ShlinkedIn and share your pearls of wisdom with a network that Just Gets It.
Be the envy of all your friends with your clever insights, sharp wit, and biting commentary. Your efforts will be rewarded with oddly empowering 'Reactions' and cryptographically sound 'ShlinkPoints' (the latter could one day make you rich after a trading pump-and-dump scheme).
And if you're not in the mood to write, that's OK too. Soak up a few minutes of original satire, robot wisdom, and Onion-style headlines. It's pretty cathartic, and costs a lot less than a therapist.
AAA++ would recommend.
@chrismessina Thank you Chris! One of our many plans is to continue adding/rotating in different templates and inputs to keep it spicy fresh.

Listen, I've seen brands activated. Big brands, little brands and all the little Streets McGoos in between. You name it. But this is some brand arousal we're talking here. Hot, sweaty, and honest: just how I like my content. This isn't just some walk in the park networking. NOPE. It's not schlubthumping on your lunch break with your sad little dopamine deprived coworkers. Schlinkedin helps you work hard, so you can play harder. I'm a man child, so yeah, I like to play in the proverbial sandbox once in a while.
@td_21_mvp Well, if I may answer your question with a completely unrelated comment: I am drinking a harmless coconut water right now and also love coconut water :)
Re: our story generation, we actually use a proprietary network of no-nonsense neural nodes neatly nestled in numerous noggins. We don't actually use any AI, so all these posts are written by real folks! The auto-filled templates that can sometimes be used (the buttons on the post box) are created by a randomizer our fearless engineer built, and a huge list of silly inputs we wrote and can continually add to.
@td_21_mvp please always get off track that's what we LIVE for. And, no I have not—you recommend?

This website looks like absolute garbage and I am talking about both the content and UI/UX. I am disgusted by the vile and "shocking" things that I have read just in these previews and you should all be ashamed of yourselves just as I will be as I SIGNUP RIGHT FREAKING NOWWWW
