Love the concept.
This looks like it is all 3d printed.
Do you plan on releasing any STL files for people who would like to build their own "smartians" ? Would it be a free or paid download if so?
Report
@jukefr That would be amazing. I'd love to be able to print my own smartians. It really would take open sourced creativity to the next level :)

I'm always in for upgrading / modifying / adding on and hence reusing instead of completely replacing things! This is perfect for that! Any plans for a kickstarter of some sorts?
Report
@swiftpolar What sort of things have you modified?
Report
@grant_fuellenbach Haven't exactly modified anything but one thing that I've seen that I am really interested to integrate into my house would be those sensor taps? I think it was featured here in PH before. You don't need to change the entire sink, tap or whatever, the device basically is an add-on to your existing structure to make it sensor based.
I don't think I'll modify much things in terms of hardware, at least not from scratch or whatever. I'm never a hardware hands on kind of person.
I love the video you guys made @andrewspitz
I love my Tassimo coffee maker, but the one thing it lacks is the ability to have me kick off a cup from bed when I wake up. With Smartians this will be a reality.
This is amazing! I spoke about a similar idea a while ago with friends. "What if we had small little gadgets to just trigger the old good stuff we already have? Like pressing buttons or switches on things."
My first use would be to press a button on my old thermostat to heat up my house when I'm going home.

Holy moly! I love it. There was a similar product on kickstarter but it was very limited, but the simple extra addons makes almost everything i can imaging automatic. Brilliant work!

Definitely very interested in something like this! Have been thinking for a while how to automate window blinds with an Arduino and some custom tools, but this will do the work!

I've been looking into LittleBits and Arduino for similar use-cases.. but I'm in love with this solution. Can't wait to get my hands on 'em!
