snappify helps you to create beautiful code snippets. It’s a design tool where you’re able to explain your code and style it to your needs. Have all your snippets stored in one place and easily share them with the rest of the world!
Hey Product Hunt 👋
@AnkiCodes and I started to work on snappify about a year ago as a side project. We wanted to build a tool that makes it easy to create beautiful code snippets and at the same time give the users a powerful editor which helps them to annotate and explain their snippets.
Today we are confident that snappify has matured into a helpful tool for developers around the world!
Features 🚀
- operate on a free canvas, drag around elements where you want them
- add multiple code snippets
- annotate with rich-text and arrows
- upload custom images
- highlight code (e.g. blur specific lines or show change diffs)
- manage all your code snippets in one place
Future plans 🙌
At the moment we are able to work full-time on snappify and have big plans to push it even further. We are working hard on the possibility to embed interactive snaps into your website / blog!
We would absolutely love to know your thoughts and are happy to answer all your questions! 😊
We also got a 30% discount code for the first year / month of your snappify Pro subscription! Just use SNAPPIFY_30 at checkout. The code is valid until 28th February 2022.
This is really full featured, well done - much more detailed than carbon. Have you got any plans for ways to address accessibility around sharing code? Images are not a great way to share code for those using screen readers etc
@simon_barker1 Hey Simon! thanks for your feedback, glad you like it 🙌
that's exactly what we're working on at the moment :D
we want to give a possibility to export code snippets as HTML in order to embed it into your website / Blog .. and also be able to share a link to your snap where the viewer can see the snap rendered as HTML and is able to copy the code
@simon_barker1 Hey Simon! just wanted to get back to you that we already released the possibility to share interactive versions of snaps publicly, so that viewers can easily copy & paste the code elsewhere :)
you can see an example here: https://snappify.io/view/bcc5406...
I am using snappify for many months to share database tips on Twitter, and it has reduced my work so much! In the past, I had to make code screenshots, put them on a background and constantly fight with Photoshop to make these look outstanding, so I can share them. And now I just open snappify do everything there and can concentrate more on my tips than the visuals.
And the best of it? @dominiksumer and @ankicodes have reacted on my wished all the time and improved the tool, so I had less work to do to get much better results. My money was spent very well :)
@ankicodes@tpetry Hey Tobias, thanks for your support here on ProductHunt too! :D
It's really great to have you as a customer and your feedback already helped us to improve snappify many times - that's so incredible and I also want to say HUGE thanks for this!
So awesome to see how snappify improved your workflow, this is just so fulfilling to hear as a creator of a product 😍
@kevinbensmith Hey Kevin, glad you like it! :)
If you have something in mind which could improve your workflow while creating such code snippets, we're all ears :D
@dominiksumer Not sure this is what you are looking for in terms of feedback, but what I would find useful is for whoever sees the code snippet image to have an easy way to get to the code in text form.
Because if it's really a useful code snippet, you might want to copy paste it.
@kevinbensmith that's exactly what we're working on at the moment :)
we want to make the snaps exportable as HTML .. so you can integrate an interactive version into your website / blog
we also want to have the possibility to just share it via a link .. and there the snaps will also be interactive (like you can copy the code) instead of just a static image
@dominiksumer let me know when the HTML export is ready. Would love to try it out again. Btw: we've also launched in the meantime. Would be great if you could check it out :)
Technical lead: "Why don't you put comments next to your code? I can barely understand how it works."
Me: "Don't worry, I snappified it. Just push to master now."
@dot_michael haha awesome! :D
would actually love to see snappify being used for documentations in the future :)
especially when we released the feature to embed interactive snaps as HTML, so that people can also copy the code as text, instead of just having it as an image
Been following and using snappify a lot of times. It's very easy to user and the 16:9 ratio option makes it perfect to post clean code snippets on Twitter. Keep 'em updates coming.
Snappify is a great tool for every developer. I've been using it myself a lot, and I love it so much I also integrated it into my own app, because I believe more devs should be using it!
Huge congrats to such a polished product 🙌@dominiksumer & @ankicodes
@dominiksumer@ankicodes@fscholz 🤩 thanks for all those nice words and your wholehearted support Felix! We also love that snappify is integrated into ThreadStart and that they work so well together! 🙌
