sniped is a fun Slack app that encourages employees to lock their workstations. When you find an unattended, unlocked laptop, type /snipe and your username on their Slack. Then, lock their laptop. You get a star for staying vigilant. They receive a warning and a notification to a public channel, so they’ll never forget to lock their laptop again.

Howdy Product Hunters!
We're excited to launch our first of many apps, Sniped. It’s a fun way to remind your co-workers to lock their laptops when they leave their desk for any reason.
We literally just started our company last week and were inspired by the “12 Startups in 12 Months” movement, so we decided on trying to ship something before the month ended.
From our past experiences, one-off onboarding lectures and occasional nagging from IT have failed to make people consistently lock their laptops. We decided to tackle this problem more effectively as a game: tag unlocked laptops and gain points; get caught - you lose points and get an embarrassing notification on a public channel.
We know for a fact that this works. How? We’ve seen very similar systems in action at top companies like Twitter, Google, Coinbase, and Stripe. A little threat of public shaming, and suddenly, everyone remembers to lock their laptop.
Sniped is currently free while it's in beta, and if you sign up now, you'll get a discount for the paid release upon general availability.
Hope you'll find this fun and useful. Let us know what you think!
