@internetjohnny Hi, John! This is a good question) We understand that you provide us your sensitive data, so we closely monitor its safety. Snowball Analytics DOES NOT store your broker or crypto account credentials. All your data in Snowball Analytics is depersonalized and encrypted at rest. You connect your brokerage accounts via Yodlee (https://www.yodlee.com/), secure data aggregator and all your credentials are stored there, we do not have access to it. We also have an ability to add your information by importing broker's reports if Yodlee is not an options for you, which are also depersonalized Please let me know if you have more questions 🙂

@horovody Sorry to ask the tough questions, but someone has to. Is there no way to offer read-only access to my data through an API? Why do the credentials to my brokerage accounts have to be stored somewhere? It is nice to say that there is this 3rd party (Yodlee) which is secure, but you're not on the hook if they have a data breach, your users are. Security breaches are becoming more prevalent, and this is extremely sensitive data. Also, do you allow any 3rd parties (anyone other than SnowBall Analytics basically) access to my data for whatever reason (advertisement, payment for order flow, sth else)?

@internetjohnny It's totally okay, I understand your concerns Some brokers actually do have an API, and you can connect via API Keys, access will be read-only. But the vast majority of brokers just don't have such an option unfortunately :( Because Yodlee is a open banking solution (they have access to your broker) they're under regulations for data privacy, the security standards are established and regulated by financial regulators. We're also constantly adding other methods to ensure our users have other options About your second question: we NEVER sell your data and no third-party providers have access to your data. Our service is funded solely by subscription fee
