@automationist AI-powered book curation is such a cool feature! How do you decide which books make it to the platform, and are there any plans to include more niche genres?
@taras_tymoshchuk
We currently focus on non-fiction books written in English, from which we can extract 7-12 key takeaways. Examples include:
- Self-help and personal development
- Business and management
- Popular psychology
- Productivity and time management
- Leadership
- Memoirs and autobiographies (focused on lessons learned)
- Popular science
- Motivational and inspirational
- Relationship advice
- Health and wellness (general advice books)
However, we do not offer:
- Fiction or novels
- Academic textbooks
- Technical manuals
- Programming books
- Encyclopedias and reference books
- "How-to" guides (e.g., how to draw, cook, craft)
- Travel guides
- History
- Biographies (purely factual)
- Scientific papers and journals
- Art books
- Atlases and map collections
@automationist Thank you for outlining your focus on non-fiction books. It's impressive to see such a diverse range of genres aimed at delivering key insights. Your clear approach is greatly appreciated and supports a depth of quality in the takeaways offered. Keep up the great work!
Congrats on the launch! I will definitely use this..

Hey Eric, congrats on the launch! The concept of SoBrief as a "movie trailer for books" is intriguing. How do you plan to curate the summaries and ensure quality across such a vast library? Also, what strategies do you have lined up for expanding your audience? Excited to see it evolve!

We use LLMs, so the consistency across the entire library is unmatched. We also use the same LLMs to summarize only the books that we think we can summarize well.
> Also, what strategies do you have lined up for expanding your audience?
There are lots of people who would just read non-fiction summaries. But expanding into fiction books, podcasts, etc. could be interesting.

Sounds cool but kinda overwhelming too, who has time to go through summaries of 73,000 books, maybe focus on quality over quantity and are the AI narrations even any good or just robotic?

Congrats on launching SoBrief, Eric! The idea of having 'trailers' for books is genius. Definitely gonna check it out. Good luck!
