Celyn lives in your notch and translates audio in real time. Speak into your mic, join a Zoom call, watch a YouTube video, listen to a podcast — and Celyn shows you the translation instantly, right at the top of your screen. No switching apps, no interrupting anyone, no lag.

5:05 PMHey Product Hunt 👋
I built Celyn as a personal experiment. Could I ship a polished native Mac app with no prior Swift experience, using AI as my entire engineering team?
Turns out yes.
The frustration was personal. I speak the language, but accents are hard, especially when you're still getting used to them. I'd follow a Zoom call just fine, then completely lose the thread the moment someone spoke too fast or with a strong regional accent. Everything I found to solve this was either cloud-based, required a subscription, or just felt outdated.
So I built my own. It lives in the notch, translates in real time, and everything stays on your Mac.
Would love to hear from anyone using it with different language pairs. That's what'll shape what comes next.

@curiouskitty Honestly the tradeoff is smaller than you'd expect for popular languages. Apple's Translation framework (what Celyn uses under the hood) handles the big ones like English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese really well for everyday conversation.
Where it gets harder is less common language pairs, or very technical language like medical or legal terms.
One thing worth knowing: there's no mode to pick. Celyn is always on-device, nothing ever leaves your Mac. That's a choice, not a limitation.
For popular languages it's solid. For rare ones, think of it as a helpful aid rather than a perfect transcript.
