I built SousChef because cooking used to overwhelm me. Recipes assumed expertise, videos raced ahead, and I’d read a recipe **six times** before it clicked.
SousChef fixes that: a smart cookalong with short videos, clear step-by-steps, automatic timers and zero stress – like a calm chef who waits for you.
We’re in open **beta** and currently Dutch-only (🇳🇱), but adding more recipes, features, and languages soon. If you’ve ever felt cooking isn’t for you, I built SousChef *for you*. Would love your thoughts!

This is such a smart approach to teaching cooking. Is the app tailored for beginners or does it also cater to those with more advanced skills?

@daniel_evans14 Great question 🙌 At its core, SousChef is designed for people who don’t particularly enjoy cooking new recipes — research shows that’s about 54% of the population. For them, the real-time Cookalong UX takes away the hassle and makes cooking doable.
That said, it’s also a great fit for beginners, and we already have ideas to support people with more experience too — making even more complex dishes easier to prepare.
But in the end, everyone benefits from a smooth experience. Cooking — like most things — is simply more enjoyable when you can focus on the fun parts, without unnecessary friction getting in the way.
