Spill is a minimalist freewriting app to spill your thoughts out in a distraction-free space. Once you're done, you get to reflect deeply on your thoughts with our voice mode. Start writing better today.
Spill 2’s distraction free full screen mode and no backspace rule helped me stream thoughts like
I’ve never before and
the voice mode reflection afterward truly turned raw ideas into clarity.

Krisp Accent Conversion — Understand accented speech in real time
Hi Hunters!
We're Vishruth and Faraaz. We built Spill as an extended release of Farza's Freewriting app with a voice mode to reflect on your thoughts.
Freewriting is super powerful if you’re looking to unclutter your thoughts and make decisions quicker and better.
Using this app is super simple:
1. Think of a topic to write about (ex. a breakup, a struggle at work, a new idea)
2. Click fullscreen
3. Click the timer
4. Start writing. No backspaces allowed. Don’t stop writing.
5. Once the timer runs out, click on "Reflect" and start talking to the AI that has full context of all your journal entries.

Congrats! The app seems great for emotional writing and brainstorming, but how do you plan to support users who need more structure, like outlines, task lists, or business writing?
@vouchy Hey Van! Thanks so much for trying out the app :D
We built Spill keeping freewriting as the sole purpose in mind, eliminating every feature from a text editor that isn’t absolutely necessary for this use case. For outlines, tasks and business writing I recommend other mainstream tools such as google docs, notion etc.
Spill is a place to truly write your heart out without thinking about anything else
I downloaded it. Will there be a possibility to format things? (like bold, italics etc.)?
+ if users could create an account related to Gmail to not lose their writings, it would be cool (just in case that the notebook will be stolne or so) :)
@busmark_w_nika Thanks Nika for the feedback! Reason we didn't add heavy formatting options was because we think freewriting should be natural and minimalistic. All the text editing options on other editors can overwhelm you with options when you sit down to write. This is why you'll also see there's no grammar/spell-checks either. This is intentional.
We're still debating on the account creation part. People generally are hesitant to send a few of their journal entries over the wire and prefer to keep it local. But I think that could be solved for in a different way. Thanks so much for using the app, cheers!

Itching for this on Windows, this is genuinely such a breath of fresh air. As a writer, it feels so rare to find ways to enable unfiltered thinking when everyone censors themselves constantly in most environments, especially with AI.
Super cool how there's zero concerns with privacy with the writing since it's local since that would have been my first concern as a user but I'm curious, what about privacy regarding conversations with the voice agent?
This is so awesome to have. I just have a quick question regarding the audio-to-text effect: Will it still be effective for note-taking perhaps at a lecture/seated at the back of the hall? Thinking about this as a potential use in lecture halls or as a note-taking alternative to Notion. Will the notes be password protected? How do you "talk" to the AI? Will it give you pointers or help you rationalise your emotion? Love the concept.

Love the concept, especially the “no backspace” rule to encourage unfiltered thinking. Curious, how do you handle privacy and data retention for users who are sharing deeply personal thoughts over time? Is any of the data stored for training, or is everything kept entirely local or encrypted?
@ha_anh_nguyen All data is stored locally. This is also anonymous, which is why we don't mandate a login. Only during the voice sessions are your entries sent over the wire (with no accompanying personal data).

Congratulations on the launch! 🎉 What unexpected breakthroughs have users discovered through the 'no backspace' constraint compared to traditional journaling?
