I'm curious how the delivery is executed. I read the note that Spoil has "systems in place to be able to utilize local delivery platforms", but let's get specific, that's what makes the PH conversations so great.
I sent flowers on the platform this morning, but they never arrived at my wife's office. I never received an email or a text message that updated me that the delivery had moved to tomorrow, which was revealed when I logged back into the app tonight. This afternoon, I wanted to check the status of the order so I texted the bot that had messaged me and I said, "Where's my order?" (which seems like it would be one of the first user inputs I would program into the bot). I received a generic response paraphrased as "I know I seem like a bot, but I don't actually understand any inputs. Please email us."
Looks like a cool app. My only feedback is that the current experience feels too transactional and optimized, and not enough context and transparency. I'm sure this will only get better though and look forward to following the progress.
@mikemakes Thanks for your honest feedback, Mike! Sure! We can get as specific as you'd like. The local delivery platforms we're talking about are mostly Postmates, and when that's not available we use other local services like it.
I'm so sorry you didn't have a great experience when using Spoil! We're currently building out our 2nd major version of the product that will aid in most of the concerns you had, for example, in-app status update tracking. SMS was great because it allowed us to launch quicker, but we're definitely noticing the downfalls of this decision.
We're getting more and more comfortable with making our product feel more user friendly and like you've mentioned, provide more context to our users at every touchpoint.

I used it yesterday and I wasn't expecting much. In fact, I assumed my order would be cancelled and that my money would be returned because it was SOOOO simple to use. I was shocked how AWESOME it turned out to be. I ordered cupcakes last night and they were delivered this morning. Incredible communication via text. I don't know how your business model allows it to be so cheap, but way to go.
Great product with an easy to use interface. I look forward to seeing more items added to the list! The current selection, though limited, is definitely sufficient to "spoil" a good number of friends that are across the country. Great idea!
