Reminder: The design of your deck often has zero correlation to a startup's success (check out Coinbase's deck). One of the best performing companies in Weekend Fund's portfolio had one of the worst looking decks I've seen. Fortunately the business risk isn't related to its design abilities. 😊

@rrhoover @andrewgazdecki LI's founder was a programmer, not a designer. The deck dates from around 2000. There were no slick apps to design your deck for you. Investors care less about superficial details like design and more about the information and business potential. Your comments are irrelevant.

@igor_grabucha Thanks for the feedback Igor! With another weekend of work I can definitely add those search filters. I really want to add a special section for bootstrapped startups or ones that are interested in having investor conversations. For example, you could upload your startup pitch deck and maybe highlight it as "Fundraising" to gain additional exposure. Just some ideas. :)

I don't want to have to download a deck to just look at it. I can find most of these on Slideshare or any number of other sites. I don't understand all the Upvotes, except for the opportunity for startups to get exposure for their decks. Will there be anything beyond that? Any plans to provide options for promotion? Ability to vote on decks based on specific criteria? You should hook up with Slidebean.com, a great 500 Startups success that already includes a number of these decks to use as templates to make your compilation actually useful.

@lksugarman Appreciate the feedback here. This was just a fun weekend project. I'm always saving startup decks, so figured I'd put them all in one place for others to view and share. Over time I do hope to expand upon this based on other's feedback with additional search options, ratings, etc... and there's a bunch of possibilities so we'll see where this goes! But for now, it's just a simple collection of startup decks to view or share your own. Congrats on all your success with Venntive and thanks for the candid feedback! :)

I know there's been similar sites submitted in the past but I hope to gather more bootstrapped startup pitch decks to help them gain exposure. I think it's excellent for new pitchers to see what content needs to be included to fully present your idea and move toward the acquisition of funding. I do not agree, however, that design is irrelevant. Particularly for newcomers, and even more so for newcomers who do not yet have followers or any backing. The concept IS critical, but "looking the part" doesn't hurt and, depending on what you're pitching, the design actually has the power to support your message and validate your capability. Someone made a great point when they said that most of the decks were made back in the early 2000s. Back then, these designs would have been considered good-looking pitch decks. By comparison to the templates available in PowerPoint, they were. But do you think you would catch one of these companies presenting a deck that looks like these today? Definitely not. Why? Because design says something about who you are. It is absolutely the idea and the product that will make or break the message in the end, but the design can be used as an asset as well. Holding attention, showing that you care about what you do, and looking viable can all support your message and enhance the resulting feedback. Like with all things in life, all you can do is put your best foot forward. That's all these companies did when they made their startup decks. They put the best effort ahead that they could at the time. If your best shot is currently just words on a page, make those words tremendous and passionate, and if the idea is good enough, it'll be good enough. Then, when you can do more, when you can do better, do so. Happy pitching!
