@valdecarpentrie Great question!
The pain points:
1. Standing desks are REALLY expensive and REALLY big. They just don't make sense for some people and some offices.
2. Standing desks aren't portable.
3. I don't want to have to put some bulky table/gadget thing on my actual desktop - and have to move all my stuff around to accommodate it
4. I'm stuck standing at my actual desk.
What does StorkStand do?
1. StorkStand is most importantly AFFORDABLE and we're working on bringing the price down with new products and materials. That's why we need your support on Kickstarter. (http://kck.st/2bW3SAu)
2. StorkStand is 100% portable. Going to a coffee shop? Digital nomad? Need to give a presentation in the board room? StorkStand goes with you and weighs about as much as a laptop.
3. You don't have to clutter your desk. StorkStand attaches to your chair. You can use your chair's height adjustment and StorkStand's angle adjustment to get the perfect fit. (I'm a really picky programmer, I need my ergonomics to be perfect)
4. Since its attached to your chair - you can break free from your desk. GO work by the window. Go work with your friend and collaborate. Get out and get your body and your mind moving.
Standing is so healthy for you - and it's important to focus on your health when you're working long hours in a startup.

@chloealpert Great ! I was really wondering why you took the chair as a support ; I didn't know standing was healthy ! I was like "where will I seat ?¿?¿?" 😂 Just hope you'll create something which can be installed everywhere, not just on chairs for the next ! Nice product anyway !
Thanks for your question @valdecarpentrie!
Over the last few years, there have been many studies looking at the negative health effects of sitting for prolonged periods of time, especially within the workplace. They have begun to call it "Sitting Disease" (http://ow.ly/U77O303y2mB).
Medical experts suggest using standing or upright desks for at least three hours each day, rather than traditional sitting desks, in the office. However, standing desks can get very expensive - $1000+.
StorkStand is an affordable and portable alternative for people who want to be healthy and stand for at least a portion of the day, but may not have the ability to purchase a full-size, expensive standing desk. StorkStand transforms your chair into a healthy standing desk in just a few seconds.
The neat thing is you can take StorkStand to any workplace wheel your chair around to different environments. Sometimes it's nice to get a window view or just get inspired by a new environment!
Thanks again for your question, Valentin! Always a pleasure to connect!
@valdecarpentrie It's actually insane how much we sit during the day - it's literally killing us. If you check out the kickstarter (http://kck.st/2bW3SAu) you can see a few facts.
Thanks for the comment @aimon! Our current international option includes the $149 package plus international shipping. As much as we wish shipping internationally was cheaper, it's really about economies of scale for a smaller team. Nonetheless, we hope to get those costs down to make StorkStand even more accessible to the rest of the world very soon! Thanks so much, Simon!

@goldenhorse13@aimon Did I read correctly that it's $100 for shipping international? Would love to share this with my Chiro.

@michaele_harrington@goldenhorse13 yes 100 dollars shipping international and no access to just the 99 dollar desk so the only option is 249 bucks vs 99 bucks in the states. Sucks but it's their business. I would love to buy.
@mbmusgrove@ianmclean I have the original and it's a well-designed, high-quality piece. If you check for standing desks of comparable price and portability, I think you'll find higher price points for lower quality, clunkier desk attachments.
@mbmusgrove at $99 you may be the one actually sending them seek those other options. Whether they learn the better options aren't there afterwards does't mean initial sticker shock didn't happen. Maybe half researches and the other half disengages. I think you presume your customers have that market intel, or even care to obtain it. For many the decision is just a matter or seconds, and my knee jerk reaction to this price point when it relies on a chair's pneumatic and base, is that not enough savings are being passed on.

@ianmclean the research seems to favor leaning desks for your health, I should also mention.

Brilliant and innovative. Didn't know you could hack furniture! Well done StorkStand team!
Thanks @alexabian! Really appreciate your comment - We get similar feedback from our community who have also seen our videos. But the truth is, once they try the StorkStand in person, their concerns go away. Depending on the stability/rigidity of your chair back, you will experience some movement, but very minimal while typing on your laptop or keyboard.
We test StorkStand to support up to 50 lbs (not that you are likely to need it), and include a stability strap for added rigidity. But we always suggest you try for just a few minutes - everyone is different, but most are really surprised by how stable it is. Thanks again for the comment!
